From the quotes I have seen I do not think the players would agree with that statement.

I want Joneses to stay for the recruits we have coming in. If they keep building after that, I'm on board as long as we are winning and gaining traction.

But nothing he says right now matters to me, because I cannot trust him. He says he was offered another job as well? Must have been Hawaii or Kansas.

If he stays, I sure hope this mess serves as motivation to kick butt on the field and in recruiting. New SMU motto should be "Just win baby".

He is our coach for the foreseeable future. He will not be fired.

I think he handled the situation terribly, but it doesn't do us any good for us to sit and belittle him at this point. I lost a lot of respect for him as I'm sure you all did too.

However, as long as he is our coach, we should be behind him as the leader of the football team that we love and cheer for every week. The best thing we can do is continue to show support for our team. Just get over it
