I don't have any insider info on Coach Klemm at all. Just wild [deleted] speculation.

But if he is out talking to UCLA, my hope is that we'd have the opportunity to make a counter proposal. My guess is that when you have ex-pro coaches on your staff, it's difficult to rationalize paying a young guy like Klemm as much as you're paying your coordinators, who have a lot more experience.

If Klemm gets a monster offer from UCLA, then you have a "fair market value" number to present to Steve-O, that says, "this is how much my guy is worth on the open market". Hopefully if all this is true, June and Steve will have the opportunity to Pony Up and keep Coach Klemm on the Hilltop where he belongs.

his agent should be fired if he DIDN'T go back to SMU with an offer from another school. you never quit, you just increase your demands beyond your other options. they either bite or not. if not, you know where you're going.

i don't see us overpaying for a position coach.

Speculation? I thought everything on this board said he was going to Mora's staff at UCLA. That it was a done deal. That it didn't matter what Jones said about his staff that everyone knew, knew Klemm was toast at SMU. What's to speculate?

I'm just saying that because I like to randomly throw out stuff that I have absolutely NO idea about what I'm talking about.

I thought it was interesting at the luncheon where June was showing the 1960's-70's style overhead projection of the players on offense & defense and who recruited them. Only one was shown to have been recruited by Klemm. Another interesting takeaway is that there will probably be a lot of Phil Bennett recruits playing in the bowl game against other Phil Bennett recruits.

i had forgotten he went to Pitt to be Wanstadt's DC after SMU.

If Klemm leaves, I would not assume it's going to be all about money. He's from SoCal, right? I know most on this board think Big D is the greatest place on the planet to call home, but it's not for everyone and it's a far cry from SoCal

I agree with those who think any staffing vacancies should be filled with Texas guys. And staff vacancies are going to occur in any successful program
