But where losing Coach Klemm will really hurt will be in the future classes to come if we do not hire a solid recruiter as we head into a BCS conference IMO.

Don't worry, the Big East isn't really that good. We'll be just fine.

Yep, the Big East is just a half step above CUSA. We can get by with mid to low level recruits playing Louisville, Boise, Cincy, and Rutgers right? I guess the first test will be against Pitt. It should be interesting to see how we fair especially if it is cold.

As I said earlier in another thread, I really think that we should be able to keep our current commitments as long as we keep June Jones. It would be difficult for Klemm to turn them to UCLA without sounding like a total hypocrite and a liar after a steady pitch of June Jones, SMU, and Dallas. My biggest concern really is this years class given that there is not much time left to develop relationships before signing day, but hopefully they are really sold.

Going forward this could actually a blessing in disguise in that it will force us to solidify our recruiting base in Texas. Now we just need a relentless recruiting machine that knows Texas as well as Klemm knows southern California! At the end of the day, it is a big loss, but as Stallion, Mitch and many others have said before we have no business recruiting California if we can't recruit Texas. Solidify your base in Texas first and then go after the talent in California. Top Texas talent will have the ego and desire to play together and win big. Top Florida and California recruits can serve as a complement to that and will want to come here once they realize that we will win big here at SMU!

If our current Cali guys are happy to be here, the coaches need to get guys like Preston, Livingston, and Gottschalk to help out (assuming contact by players is permitted).

Not, only works with fellow recruits.

At some point you have to coach em up. Recruiting is just the first step. For examples refer to Patterson at TCU...Briles at UH and Baylor. For how not to do it see 5 and 4 star recruits at UT!

Im worried about the future recruiting classes. I realize people think the BE is only a tiny step up, but I think thats an understatement, especially with the new BE. We need someone to recruit Dallas area, so the Big 12 will take notice of us. Also, less recruitment costs.
