So I figured now that I am going to the bowl game (thanks to GiddyUp) I should figure out where and how I should spend my trip...
Please post any good restaurants, bars, music venues, and decent/affordable hotels that some of you guys are planning to visit, have visited, or just heard are worth checking out.
Looking forward to the experience. Pony up!

Looking for a Spot to hang out in Bham?

Hey SMU fans,
Congrats on the invite to BBVA Compass Bowl. My name is Jake Davidson and I'm the FOH Manager of Rogue Tavern. Rogue is Birmingham's premiere downtown bar/restaurant. We always reach out to the fans of the teams involved to give you an insider tip for a great place to hang out the day before, day of, and after the game. We have 13 beers on tap(will be expanding to 35 in mid January), 60 bottled beers, tons of the hard stuff and a great food menu. Our biggest advantages are location and size. We are located mere minutes from Legion Field and have a huge venue capable of hosting gatherings and parties. If anybody is interested please call my cell directly to set something up. I have included the website address for you to look over. Thanks again and good luck!!
Jake

The research I've done seems to indicate the Five Points area has a lot of places to eat, drink. So that's probably where my group will be.

Tons of stuff. Late night pitch and putt. We go to the livestock auction and cruise the 4-H babes. Throw stuff off the bridge. What do you feel like doing?

We will sell at least 2000 tickets, which means a fan will have the opportunity to hang out with thousands of SMU fans. I'm sticking by my original prediction!
Go Ponies!

I'm just kidding. Not trying to pick a fight.
For the record I bought extra tickets just to try to convince more people to go.
