Well - it could happen. Think he could recruit California?

Sounds like a good idea but it may be hard to get him to move from his Calabasas Chateau.

We got him to come here once before, let's throw some money together and buy him another
Trans-Am!

Regardless, we need to put him to work IN SOME CAPACITY as a recruiter (even unofficially - I don't know the rules). Imagine this guy walking into your living room (the kids may not know him but the parents do). He's our biggest name - put him to work!

Regarding being an RB coach ... I like the idea but the 2 best things the dude had are the 2 things you just can't coach: size AND world class speed.

Love the ED idea but we know it most likely won't happen. I still think Colt Brennan would be a good addition. Lots of street cred and could recruit both Texas and Cali.

GO PONIES!!!

Does Colt really have any "street cred"? Great system QB, but nothing but a couple of preseason games.....compared to Dickerson, first ballot HOF, one of the NFL record holder, etc, ect......

Eric Dickerson would be an amazing recruiter and ambassador for this school.

I'm sure some RBs would come to SMU just for the chance to talk to ED daily.

ED's best and highest use, IMHO is to be an ambassador for the school. He has so many contacts that to have him as a RB coach or on staff as a recruiter would limit his value.

And he can work on SMU's behalf from California for all I care. Give AK some competition.

ED would be great. My point was that if he's not interested then Colt might be a good addition along with Phillips. IIRC Colt still holds a couple of records. Also think there were a few other QBs now in the pro ranks that were labeled 'system qbs'.
We just need a couple of outstanding recruiters.

GO PONIES!!!

Is there a reason to discuss this? Or is this just fantasy?

I think Jonesus should bring in Jesus as head recruiter. I bet we'd even out recruit Notre Dame then!

That was Texas A&M who *allegedly* bought the Trans Am.

Actually, do you think TAMU would be nice enough to buy ED a car and give him a fat salary so he could come and recruit for SMU??

Not nice enough, but certainly not smart enough to prevent that scenario!
