Hey, to lazy to find my other thread on this. Checked into the cost of airing Thad's commercial. Checked into Hansen and ch 11 per help from the board.
Given the short decision time, thinking we should consider airing it on hansen's sports Sunday show on 1/1. It would cost $2k. This would be after all the bowl games - so would think pretty visible. Worthwhile?
I would front the money and use the marketing fund we set up. I still need to get Thad paid in full, and I would be in the back of the line. So if people think it is worth it, will do it.
The commercial is to good not to be seen.

I'm not so sure this is the best idea if you want people to see it.
The decisive Cowboys/Giants game will be in the fourth quarter over on NBC when Hansen's show is on the air.
You could luck out and the game would end at 10:30, in time for people to flip over.
But last few SNF games w/Dallas haven't ended until nearly 11 p.m.
Just one thought for you to chew on.

Very good point. Forgot the cowboys played on 1/1. That changes things.

yea, I guess too many people will be over on that Cowboys game. Is there another bowl game that is going to be shown on local channel - ABC or FOX?

I would question spending money advertising for ticket sales as the season is ending. If we were to do something spectacularly good during the bowl game it might be ok afterwards, but even that is stretching it, It needs to be put out there as the warm up to the new season is beginning and any promotions to buy season tickets are being made.
Just my thoughts.

good point, might be a good idea to save it for August?
How much are we off on the $$ for Thad? That damn song cost too much

My thought was not for ticket sales, but for branding like promoting our move to the BE. I figured I would start another effort in august to prep for the season. Need to do more research as to various options and costs.

I just do not think it will be able to "brand" with one run. If it could be aired consistently between now and August that would be good but also very expensive.

I totally agree that it needs to be run before the new season starts in August 2012 as a continuous advertisement on the sports portion of local TV news.
We need to speak with SMU since they have a new source of income eventually coming from the Big East.
Perhaps the Big East itself might want to contribute as it is to their advantage as well to increase attendance.
Also ...
Everybody needs to re-watch and contribute!

If I may suggest, Thad, I would like to see the Big East tied into the commercial somehow. Maybe just a card that says "SMU Presents the Big East to Dallas" at the end. Or even over the opening -" SMU" and then another "Big East - 2013". I think it's important to make that connection now that we're in. As if we are bringing a new brand of entertainment to Big D.

I'd suggest running SMU ads during Rangers away games this summer (especially Angels, Red Sox and Yankees games). Probably decent local ratings, a core sports audience and some good bang for their buck and closer to football season. Also might plan on running ads during later rounds of NBA playoffis if Mavs make another run.
