SMU vs Pitt crowd

Was actually very impressed with our showing. I think the players were pleasantly surprised as well when they came out for the first half kick. SMU fans were far and away much louder than Pitt. Have no idea what the actual SMU attendance was but it was far more than the alleged 1000 tickets that were sold by SMU. Wonder if there were folks who got their tickets elsewhere.

Funny to see ED walk behind the team bench and the entire crowd start chanting his name. He must have signed 1000 autographs.

I got back from the game and I talked to a number of people who were SMU fans who got their tix for free. I myself used the military for free for the game, bringing with me a couple of other guys who did the same. A couple of girls who drove in from Dallas the night before said that they showed up and plenty of people offered them free tix.

But there were plenty of people at the game, we had a decent showing, and had more people on our side, for what it was worth.

I was watching the game at home so I could really hear the nuances of the broadcast and there was a definitive difference between the loudness and apparent size of the SMU crowd vs the Pitt supporters. I hate that it has become such an issue with many of us hard core SMU fans (yes I am one in spite of my inability to go to this game) but I was really pleased at how the Mustang fans were so much more spirited and numerous. Pat yourselves on the back, those of you who made it to Birmingham!

It was at least 2:1 SMU over Pitt in the stands.

Yes, it was great to see all of the red, being able to hear SMU fans on t.v. and, of course, the band. Thanks to all who represented!

Dickerson might be the coolest, most personable and awesome high profile alumni in the history of organized education. Love him.

Somebody needs to teach ponyscott how to dance. When the band started playing the drums in the 4 qtr ponyscott thought he could dance with the rest of the students. He was way off beat. He made our section smile. Look forward to seeing you try to dance at next years bowl game.

Funny - I was right next to him. He was a happy man by the fourth.

Easy to be happy in the fourth once you have finished the fifth.
