SMU' s Long Term Plan - Yours

Assuming you are Orisini and thinking long term, what is your vision of how things might turn out. Remember, try to be "reasonable"

This is mine:
1) 2012 - JJ returns to coach - SMU goes 2-2 in OOC, wins CUSA Title, wins liberty bowl over SEC team. SMU starts nailing 4 star recruits, no 2 stars or JUCOs (except for depth) needed.
2) 2013 - SMU joins Big East and plays brutal OOC schedule - 2-2 would be good. Win 8 games and make a run at Big East Title, win spot in Ticket City Bowl, thrash Big 10 team
3) 2014 - JJ has retired/moved on. Hire young offensive mind to coach the Ponies. 3-1 in OOC play. Sweep Big East and into a BCS Bowl. Given the size of our following, we get picked last and end up in the Sugar Bowl against the ACC Champion. Make them our B'tch.
4) 2015 - BCS falls apart and Big East teams start trying to join big 5 conferences for playoffs. Faced with adding teams, Pac 12 tries to add to its footprint by adding SMU and the Dallas media market.

Although we belong in the Big 12, I don't think Dodds, Boren, and Pickens are going to want to add another team in Texas.

This ^^^^. Then I can go to TCF Bank Stadium and cheer for the Mustangs against the Gophers. And I would do that that and wouldn't think twice about doing that.

Mrydel, you know I would.

I know you would, and I am serious in thinking that if all things remain somewhat the same, the Big 10 is going to eventually have to have some southern exposure in a good media market.

How about we win our conference first. You sound like a 21 year old believing if he keeps thinking he'll make millions then it'll happen. We have to put in the work first then start dreaming

What did we do to deserve to really warrant a Big East bid? We didn't have the track record. We had a prime location.

Sparty On!

Why do you always bring up that [deleted] conference? The football gods have spoken and they've said to the B1G that speed not size is the future of college football. Every B1G teams gets there [deleted] handed to them when bowl season comes around. The only team that recruits speed is OSU and they sometimes win. The B1G will continue to lose if doesn't change. The worst part about the B1G is the delusional fans, you all live off of the winnings of the past, plus MN is a cellar dweller in the slow white guy league.

What are you talking about? Who brought up the Big 10 in this thread?
