Big thumbs up to those that made the trip!!! I think it was a good start for our fan base learning how to travel. As Orsini has said, we MUST do much better traveling to games! I think everyone that made the trip will confirm that it was well worth it. Having the experience of being there in person was worth the time, effort, and money! I was very impressed with how many people made the drive. Quite a few didn't want to pay the airfare, and car pooled to support the Stangs. There were a lot of vehicles in the stadium parking lot with Texas license plates and SMU emblems. There are fans that had legitimate reasons for not going, and there are many others that don't. The people that are always making negative comments about how poor our attendance is, what colors are worn or not worn, the horses etc... are usually not at the game. It's kind of like politics, if you don't vote, you don't have the right to bi!ch.

Have not posted in many years...but just got back from Birmingham after 10 hours on the road. Worth it? You bet. The Mustang fans were vocal and the game was great. Let's triple our crowd for the next bowl game.

As long as the admin keeps up the unrestricted booze access I will be there. Whoever's ideas the Bachuus thing and the bottomless bar at the tailgate is deserving of a big thank you.

OMG yes to this.
Was floored when we got inside Bacchus and found out there was an open bar.

I got lucky with the location.

All of CUSA's bowls, with the exception of the Hawaii bowl, are in southern cities - Memphis, New Orleans, St. Petersburg, Birmingham, Dallas, etc. So location helped alot.

The whole experience was incredibly well put together by SMU and the bowl.

To those of you who didn't go, there was a shuttle from the airport to the team hotel, bus from the team hotel to 5-points (the bar/restaurant area for the Friday festivities), and a bus from the hotel to the game. No need to rent a car, and everywhere you turned you ran in to SMU players, coaches, fans and ex-players.

Everything was easy, well done, and a lot of fun. If you are kicking yourself for not going, you should be! You missed out.

I enjoyed meeting everyone out there and had a great time. It was great catching up with Pony Pride! Dickerson was great and it was neat to see all the players who came back. I am a 30 something and will preach to every 30 something out there that they need to go next time.

If you don't know how awesome Cole Beasley's dad is, then you should have gone to the bowl game :).

Thanks to everyone who made this a fantastic experience.

It was a blast from beginning to end. So happy I went. Birmingham people were fantastic. Hopefully we made some fans also, since they were all saying the SMU people were great fun.

We gotta get beer in our stadium. It transformed us into pretty much hard [deleted] fans.
