Dallas Skyline wide receiver Thomas Johnson has decommitted from the Texas Longhorns, according to Burnt Orange Nation. The 6'0", 180-pound wideout caught 59 passes for 1,077 yards during his senior season and checked in on ESPN.com and Rivals.com as one of the five best receiver prospects in the country.

Johnson pledged to play for the Longhorns last February but reportedly withdrew his commitment and plans to visit Oregon. The four-star wide receiver is also considering Cal and TCU. He and high school teammate Peter Jinkens planned to continue playing together at Texas before Johnson's decommitment. Both Jinkens and Johnson played in Thursday's Under Armour All-American Game with Johnson catching a 17-yard pass and picking up another 15 yards on an end around run in the first half of the contest.

Austin High's Cayleb Jones and Clear Springs' (League City, TX) Marcus Johnson are the two remaining wide receivers in the Longhorns' recruiting class of 2012. The Longhorns are also going after Hillcrest's (Springfield, Mo.) Dorial Green-Beckham, the top receiver prospect in the country.

We played Skyline this year and by far the best receiver on the field was Lutrell Thomas. He looks like the next Herkie Walls if you remember him. I looked him up on Rivals and it showed no interest from schools. I must be missing something because he put on a show that night. I also heard he ate up SL Carroll too.

Herkie Walls havent heard that name in years. Garland Sports Hall of Fame, option QB on the 1979 team, ran a 9.6 Hundred (yards not meters) as a track guy, signed with UT, averaged 28yds a catch in '81, drafted by Oilers. I heard he is coaching HS ball in Florida...I went to Garland HS, so big Herkie fan.

Herkie caught the game winning TD pass to beat Alabama in the 1981 or 82 cotton bowl. Think Texas won that game 14-11 - not a typo

Herkie and the entire Garland backfield were some of the fastest guys in the state. They had a good team.

A 6'0 180 WR would be the right fit for a run and shoot offense. Maybe his parents want him to stay close to home.
Yeah I know, wishful thinking on both counts.

Hopefully he will choose to play with a certain X UT quarterback.
