But some good news is starting to pop up on the recruiting page. Between the Parade All American announcements and the Holloway news, we are finally starting to catch some breaks. Pair this with our incredible win over PItt and I think it is safe to say that we are starting to turn things around from our recent chaos. Sometimes good news doesn't come in the most obvious forms, but I think we are going to have the talent next season that Coach Jones and Coach Mason need to compete in and possibly win Conference USA.
On another note, I just wanted to say thank you to all of the fans who made it to the bowl game. Y'all made everyone very proud to be a fan of SMU that day. Even though some might not want to say it, we are starting to travel much better and the future looks very bright for our remarkable University.

Did you hear that Tom Brady was going to retire and be our new QB coach? We need him to recruit the New England area now that we are going to the BE.

Of course! Old news. Except he will be recruiting Michigan for us. Midwest beef is just what we need.

My bad. Heard now it is Greg Brady from the old Brady Bunch sitcom. Back to California recruiting I suppose.

people would say he just used us to get the job at Michigan and would take all his recruits with him.

We might have better luck with Peter Brady...

I wish I could share your enthusiasm, Hilltop.
Compete in and possibly win CUSA... Well, I would say in year 5 we darn sure should win the mighty cusa. It only gets tougher in '13.

Well come onboard the S.S. Sunshine then 78. I agree we should be playing for the conference championship in year 5, just as we did the last two years. I think we all feel deflated by the second half of last season, but things do look promising next year. It appears we are getting several talented mid year enrollments that might contribute next season. Also, next year, it looks like there are a lot of changes inside of our closest competition and while we are losing a lot of talented seniors, we have great ayers to step up and some better options at QB.
As for The BEAST, we throttled Pitt. I know Pitt was barely bowl eligible, but most of their conference losses were less than a touchdown. All in all, while I agree our recruiting program needs improvement, it looks like we are competitively in a good place for the next couple of seasons.

Lots to feel good about ... We just beat Pitt who has a small stable of 4-star recruits with our own former two-star's (Davis and Reed)tearing up this season. There is definitely some uncertainty at offense next year but we could very well be positively surprised with how our 2012 season turns out. We don't need 4 star receivers to put up big numbers, and GG might shock some people when playing in a system that isn't tailored for the Vince Young type qb.

Dave Campo is available. He has Connecticut, NY (Syracuse) and Pittsburgh connections.

I would love to replay the second half of this season with JJMD & Line healthy.
Say what you want about C-USA, but 2 of our losses to "lowly" CUSA teams were top 25 at the end of the season.
Without injuries, is it a stretch to consider 10-3, maybe 11-2? (win tulsa & navy, and maybe pick one vs Hou/USM).
I certainly understand the frustration with the coaching & recruiting situation as of late, but to say we are not improving is absurd.
We played in the conference championship, we've been to 3 straight bowls, and won 2 of them.
This year may not feel like much of an improvement over last year, but I would argue 8-5 this year is leaps and bounds over 7-6 last year.
We jumped 29 spots in strength of schedule between the two seasons, jumping from 86th to 57th.
