I know that he's been on the news a lot, but he does seem to get a lot of bad rap. The tech haters will roll out and then pretty much everyone that dislikes SMU uses him as a punching bag. This writer clearly had an agenda here. That's not what I call reporting or good journalism. This article seemed like a personal attack. I'm not defending or supporting him, but I refuse to feed the trolls and quite frankly those folks citing rumors on him should act like adults. Some of the things I hear about him are really quite defamatory, which is illegal.

He praised a 2010 ESPN documentary,"Pony Excess," which explored the SMU football scandal.
"Learned a lot from that," he said.
James said he feels called by God to give himself to public service and, as a businessman, wants to rescue free enterprise from over-regulation.
Must be the M in SMU or the Tebow effect!

i bet the IRS is interested in knowing how insignificant they were. 30 years of penalties and interest can add up.

Happened all the time. Team is waiting for a flight home. Plane is delayed for whatever reason. Kids go to buy a cup of Joe (no Starbucks back then, just 70s 80s coffee). Booster on the flight picks up the tab. Or a burger or sandwich. NOthing major even by the NCAA standards. Some call it paying players. oThers call it a courtesy.

So the booster that gave you a car and spending money was just being courteous?
