still will be very strong. Everyone needs to calm down. Despite the loss in a few skill offensive players...we are still stacked with our D line and O line which is what we really needed this year. I think SMU will be just fine...looking forward to signing day. I think our class has a lot of sleepers and very coach-able players that will be very good in the coming years.

It will be a decent CUSA class but not a high caliber BE class, We have to stop as of this class we have to start comparing ourselves with BE teams not CUSA teams. We have to look 2 years out in any recruiting class so that is why we need to compare this class to the BE not CUSA. If we want to be a middle of the road BE team then fine but we need to step up our recruiting to win the BE. I never liked settling for mediocrity.

Our class is still held by many, including Scout.com, amongst the best - if not the best - in C-USA. We are going to continue to move up the ladder not only in our conference(s) but nationally.

Houston is number 1 in the conference in Scout and we are right behind them I believe. But we dropped from being a top 40 class on Scout to 67 right now and dead
last when comparing to BE teams like we should be doing.

Two questions then...
If we exceed this year in CUSA and win our division...get to play for the CUSA Championship (I think we have a decent shot) will this give us more credibility as a competitor in the Big East for the first season in the conference?
and second...will that momentum enable to help us recruit a solid Big East class for next year? Basically...with one more solid season after this years recruiting class can we get more solid players for our next class? Hopefully some 4 stars.
I think our Texas recruiting pipeline is getting stronger with the addition of Philips.

Sorry, but we are not stacked on O line OR D line. I dont know where you got that idea. Those are 2 areas are our biggest concern right now

stacked on the OL? When I look at the roster, it's difficult to even find a 2-deep

Just because you win the conference in Dec doesn't mean results will show up in February. Recruiting starts 12-18 months before signing day when kids either make an early commitment or start to come up with their leaders If there is any bump, it will come in 2014. Sustained success through multiple conference championships and getting to higher level bowls is more important though.

I'm reading the Dallas Morning News this AM......get this:....SMU has only 3 out of the Top 100 Area players signed and exactly 2 ( and one of those 2 is Seaver Myers who may go to TAMU)on the Top 100 State players signed and if Myers goes, then SMU has only 1 Top 100 in the State....sickening recruiting in our backyard

Sickening describes the effort putt forth by $2M hc and staff. The results - I'm going to have to consult the dictionary before final call.

Im glad people are optimistic about this current recruiting class, and I wish I didnt follow what we had to what we went to. Theres no doubt we have a decent CUSA team, but if we want to be great we need to think AQ. We need to think we deserve 4/3 star recruiting class, not low 3 to up 2 star class.
