It could be

A great year for SMU football. We have the receivers and defensive players and the makings of a good offensive line. The system is in place and we have picked up a QB who has had a rough couple of years. The same scenario as when Colt Brennan went to Hawaii to play for the Warriors. They both had a dose of negative experience and were/are starting over. Brennan said his experience matured him and intensified his focus on football because he knew it was his last shot. I would imagine Gilbert may feel similar.
Colt Brennan, only a few months on the islands and new to Jones system, playing USC his first game and fighting for the starting job went 21-for-32 for 250 yards 1 td 1 int. and a touchdown. Graunke who played the other half of the game had 127 yards passing and led the Warriors with 43 rushing yards on seven carries. Next game Michigan State Brennan 23 -31 219 yards with 2 td 0 int. Brennans third game 347 YDS, 3 TD, Brennan fourth game against Boise 426 YDS, 4 TD, 2 INT. Great learning curve for an experienced football player which Brennan called himself. I think Gilbert would call himself experienced football player too.
When I watched G.G. highlight video I was very impressed with his athletic ability and of course all the throws were great completions. He appeared to make very quick physical movements, did not have to think before scrambling and runs like a half back, has a quick release and motion pulling the trigger, foot movement like Peyton Manning on the balls of feet not flat footed, a great arm and can throw the bullet. Wow, I think he has the potential to be better than Colt Brennan, appears bigger and more athletic. So I conclude if he puts the same kind of effort Brennan did into starting over, with the same coaching and having a defense that Brennan did not have... Gilbert sould be up to speed, with the help of Jones sideline tutelage, to run Jones offense at 80% easily within the first half of the season. To date I believe we have been around 60%.
So with the SUPPORT of the fanbase and encouragement without ridicule I think the possibility of winning all of the remaining games is very possible. That could mean ten wins... It won't please everyone but I sure will be happy and optimistic going forward.
Note to the death cult.. did you hear what Brandon Marshall said after the Pro Bowl yesterday? He said he went there with the mindset to be the MVP.. he scored four touchdowns.. he said to the effect.. "what you think and speak you can manifest" he sort of sounded christian and positive.
Let's keep the haters in check and do our part in elevating SMU, the team, Gilbert and Jones to a conference championship and big bowl win....
