@wilnerhotline: Source: Boise State under pressure from Big East to join in '12 to offset WVU departure. AF likely to join Navy in BE; question is when.

I thought it was interesting that the Big 12 was releasing a 10 team schedule when the Big East still has released WVU from the 27 month waiting period.

Well, if they want to use the money they will get from an early exit of WVU to pay the exit fee and schedule buyouts of BSU then they may get that to happen.

actually, other boards say memphis may be gaining traction as immediate solution if wvu leaves.
But i don't buy it...why bypass the other cusa schools, when they're already signed and sealed and all but delivered?

If they give WVU the exit, doesn't that set a bad precident for making Pitt and Syracuse stick around for 2 years?

It sure does set a bad precedent. BEAST needs to do something to change that WV lawsuit. It looks like WV may buy their way out through their corrupt court system.

If WVU can legal get out of the BE early I wonder if SMU would consider getting out of CUSA early again. I know we were looking at trying at one time but if there is a precedence set I wonder if we would try to revisit the issue again.

If you are looking at "BCS points" to replace WVA then Memphis is going in exactly the wrong direction.

How so? Those schools are under the same restrictions as we are regarding exiting CUSA. Also, those two schools bring nothing to the BE. IMO the BE will continue to grow by adding top quality schools like Navy and AF.

I think both bring BCS points...that's why I mentioned those two teams...we bring nothing...Houston brings some...I don't think there are that many non-BCS teams out there any longer that bring any points...except Tulsa and ECU.
Final BCS Rankings:
Teams finishing 1-6: 4 points for each team
Teams finishing 7-12: 3 points for each team
Teams finishing 13-18: 2 points for each team
Teams finishing 19-25: 1 point for each team
[Then] point totals will be adjusted to account for the size of the conference, as follows:
12 or more members | no adjustment
10 or 11 members | points increased by 12.5 percent
9 or fewer members | points increased by 25 percent
All Potential BCS Conferences will be Re-Evaluated Based on (3) Criteria:
1st - The ranking of the highest-ranked team in the final BCS Standings each year (if a conference does not place a team in the final BCS Standings, then its highest-ranked team is determined
2nd - The final regular-season rankings of all conference teams in the computer rankings
3rd - The number of teams in the final BCS Standings each year, with adjustments for conference size
A conference will become the seventh automatic qualifier if it finishes among the top six conferences in both the 1st and 2nd criteria and if its ranking in the 3rd is equal to or greater than 50 percent of the conference with the highest ranking in No. 3.

SMU can leave CUSA early if it wants, but it would need to pay significantly more money.
Boise State has the same issue with the MWC. Given they have the highest ranking of the three schools, they could do a deal like this:
1) WVU and/or Big 12 pay huge exit fee from Big East;
2) Big East gives some of that money to MWC for exit fee; and
3) Big East gives back some of its TV contract money to keep ESPN happy.
It is also possible the BE might convince the Big 12 to: (1) stop raiding any of the Big East schools,(2) continue support for AQ status for BE, and (3) agree to a BB scheduling agreement b/w the two conferences.

Good ideas- esp. the 'non-compete'. Not sure those would be legal but one can always try.
However, I seriously doubt that DD and the whoren turds would agree to anything similar to that.
