If we win the conference next year...

...do all the JJ haters still hold their position?
It seems that some hold the line that there is nothing JJ can do to win them back.
IS this accurate?

June definitely has the chance to win me back. I want him to win me back. For me it depends on more than a conference championship but that is a great start.

i want to see action on the recruiting trail - early and often. i want more of the staff to be involved, as opposed to just one or two guys.
5 years in and there are still some guys on this staff that I have no idea what it is they do.

Yes.
Winning cures everything.

If winning the conference involves a consistent offense, generating >300 yards passing and >28 points per game, noticeable game prep, an inspired team, a signed extension with a sizable buyout, GG comes and we have young QBs being developed to be actual future starters and we hit the recruiting trail like a sonofagun, offering reach and system perfect recruits selling BE and June stability hard then sure, a conference championship would put me 100% back in his corner.

No, the haters will continue their vitriol no matter what. The board has been divided into two factions at this point: the hardcore June Jones haters, and the people living in reality.

I want to see more aggressive recruiting as well, but I do wonder whether losing Klemm and Reinebold could change how "public" some of SMU's recruting is.
The services seem to rely to a large degree on coaches to tell them to call a kid right after the coach offers the kid. In particular, it was always amazing how the SMU Rivals guys knew to call someone in LA right after the kid received an offer from Klemm. Reinebold seemed to be more about facebook updates than keeping the services in the loop, but he was getting the information out there.
In theory, SMU could step up their recruting effort but pull back from their relationship with the services so we would see less coverage. I know the services have other sources besides coaches, but I am interested in how it could play out and in hearing other people's thoughts.
While I do not follow any other school's recruting closely, I think that most schools see the value of keeping the services in the loop. As has been discussed on here many times when people debate the value of the services, having a "reporter" call the kid and ask him all about SMU has to be good for elevating SMU in the eyes of the recruit.

Or hardcore June Jones lovers and the people living in reality.

Reality? Reality is that b4 JJ SMU football was putrid and now we have gone to three straight bowls and are headed to a BCS conference.
Like many others I was dismayed at the ASU fiasco and resulting recruiting hit but let us wait and see, as we get beyond it and move toward the BE how recruiting unfolds.

Lets hear some facts to support that "reality". I'm not a "June hater" btw, I just have a minimum set of expectations that I have for a coach that currently are not being met.

I don't think there are many June Jones haters. I think there are a few, but most people are in the "highy concerned" camp right now, not the "hate" camp.

Geez, where do I begin?
The reality that we hadn't gone to a bowl game in 25 years and he took us to 3 in 4 years (winning 2)
The reality that before he came along we were the laughingstock of 1-A football
The reality that before he came along you would've been laughed out of town for suggested SMU should be in a BCS conference
The reality that our "expectations" before June were having a losing record every year
The reality that everyone is always looking for a better job
The reality that Arizona State is a better job than SMU
The reality that a guy from the West Coast might want to return there to coach in the the most high profile conference in the region
The reality that part of "making it" as a football program involves bigger schools wanting your coach
Sorry he hasn't met your "minimum set of expectations," though. Perhaps you yearn for the days of the WAC, going 3-8, and hosting San Jose State on Saturdays? Get a grip, the guy saved this program, no one else was crazy enough to take the job or had the name recognition to step in and do what he has in such a short amount of time. We're going to the [deleted] Big East next year. Think about that for a second. The Big East. What he's been able to accomplish in four years for the future of our athletic department and university as a whole has been remarkable, your "minimum set of expectations" be damned.
