Think about it, it makes sense. People (including myself) like to watch games that matter. In college and pro football, every game matters. Baseball? A team could go on a 20 game slide and still make the playoffs. Too much supply kills demand...

It's a pastime because of the rich history. Nothing better than going to the ballpark on a nice summer night to watch a game.
