Scouting Report

SCHEDULE & STATS
.

0

A tall, long armed defensive lineman who almost looks a bit thin through the upper body, and has the height to add even more girth. Showcases natural flexibility when asked to sit into his stance. Plays in a 34 front and is asked to two gap consistently on the outside. Has a tendency to pop upright off the football and isn't a real explosive guy off the snap getting into contact. However, uses his length very well to gain inside hand placement and control blocks. He routinely will allow blockers to get under his pad level and work him down the field, but he showcases some suddenness and violence with his hands to disengage form contact and find the football. Nevertheless, is a very average athlete and doesn't have much of a burst when trying to close quickly. Is more of a strider with a solid motor, but doesn't close real quickly initially off his frame.

Doesn't have a great first step off the football in the pass game. Showcases a little savvy, extends his arms well and uses his length to keep himself clean when trying to reach the corner. Will try to work the arm over and his combo of length and initial qicks does allow him at times to gain a step. But there is no real initial burst to his game, he gets upright and has a tough time closing on the QB once he gains a step. Isn't a great bull rusher because of leverage. Uses his length and effort to fight of blocks and slowly push the pocket but there isn't a real dynamic quality to his game in any area.

Impression: A good-looking size free agent in my mind. Should get a chance as a 34 five technique because he knows how to use his length and two gaps, but his struggles holding the point of attack aren't ideal.

Taylor has been a nice player for us, and I have heard some say he'll be a better pro player than college player. Hope he gets the chance to prove that prediction right!

I will be forever grateful to Taylor for his sack to end the 2009 UTEP game that clinched the first bowl game. What a feeling that was!

A bit thin through the upper body? I don't think this guy has seen Taylor. We need someone to post the pic after his sack against TCU.

Who is the person writing these reports? Is he a professional NFL player personnel analyst or some hack just trying to impress people?

Jonesy- Not sure what your daddy told you to say. I am an alum and avid pony fan. My comments were not and should not have been contrued as negative. I was a little suprised at the negative comments written by the author. nada mas= nada menos.

GO PONIES!!!

I apologise... I was just poking a little fun at you and the Stud.. not of your comment but implying you or the Stud may have written the articles.. I am going to try to contain myself Amigo.

I was always felt he was a little overrated - the comment on consistency is probably the most accurate. However, he should still get a shot in the NFL ... I'd be shocked if he didn't show up on at least someone's practice squad next year.

Overrated?? Hardly. TT is a solid player, with room to grow. He deserves a NFL look. Remember he came to SMU as an offensive player, where he might fit better.

Go Ponies!
