A Plea to Our Generals

As we wait for the snow to melt so that our warriors can again tread into battle, let us not waste this time doing nothing. Instead, let us make preparations, preparations for a season of battle and blood! For if this is to be our time of victory, then it should be one enjoyed by our people!

The path to this is a simple one, as it includes only allowing the purchaser's of season tickets to attend the impending battles against our mightiest foes. This will ensure that our numbers will remain at their highest throughout the year, and that if we are forced to endure the presence of outsiders, that they will be forced to bleed yen for the privilege.

The opportunity is before us. The snow is melting. I am ready.

I've said before that I think that we shouldn't sell any single-game tickets to the A&M game. Make people buy season tickets to be able to see that game. Hopefully they will come back later in the year, but even if they don't, we get to count them in our attendance numbers...and we already have their money.

I agree with you, but what about those from out of town? I have work and can't make every game...but I will be sure to make that one. I don't want to spend $200-300 more for games I won't be able to attend. I guess Stubhub would be a better option for myself.

Another idea instead of making people buy season tickets to go to the A&M game SMU could sell the A&M tickets in a 3 game block with 2 other games not being the TCU game and sell the TCU game in a 3 game block with the remaining home games. This way it would not be as cumbersome for people and would guarantee large ticket sales for every home game.

Every person on this board who doesn't show up for the cupcake games has an excuse. Excuses don't put asses in seats.

yeah, I would make the A&M game part of a 3-pack of tickets not a season ticket.
More likely to be used if you add 2 tix on, not an entire season.

now is not the time to abuse our most loyal fans/season ticket holders. Entice them to double their order at only a 50% increase in price. These are the folks most likely to invite a friend and try to help us sell SMU athletics. Do what you can do to put more butts in seats...and do it NOW

CP- best clarify- are you implying that you want us to buy double what we bought last year and then in addition pay 50% more for those tickets?

poorly worded I guess

what I'm saying is one of the 1st things you do to increase attendance is to give your loyal season tickets a break. If they currently buy 4 seats, invite them to buy 2-4 more but don't charge the same price per ticket as they pay for the original 4. Let them buy up to 4 addt'l seats at 50% off the "normal" full price. Of course the problem would be where you put people, as most "loyals" get attached to their seats. I'd like to see "our crowd" at least buy up those seats between the 40 yard lines on the visitors side. On the other hand, I have been spoiled to the fact I can pick one game each year to make it to Big D and usually sit on the visitor's side near mid-field (with as many old buddies as I can talk into joining me) That needs to change

Yeah....or we could designate a mob soldier for each fan and force them to attend all games..

Really?!?!?

Maybe we should try beating A$M for the first time in over 20 years. That might help attendance going forward.

Fill the stadium with SMU fans against A$M and TCU. The environment will help our players and impress recruits. For once we can have a positive influence on a current game and future Mustangs. A great game day experience for our recruits, that adrenaline rush from a great game and crowd, will have influence over some kid’s decision to attend SMU.

Real simple, single tickets should be offered only to members of the Mustang Club. Let the A&M folks sit on the grass, a better seat than they gave us in College Station. At least TCU was reasonable considering the condition of their stadium.
