The Last time SMU

When was the last time SMU put up 50 points or more? The last couple of days I have been having this recurring feeling.. a premonisition.. I awoke this morning with 50 on my mind again. I have not received any kind of clue as to which game it will be but I know this year SMU is going to put up 50.

Maybe someone else on Ponyfans can help me.. I am sure the Stud knows the last time but I doubt if he thinks it will ever happen under Jones..

Maybe one of you might be feel something similar, a big game and score.. help me out by indicating which game you may think it could be.

We play SFA on Sept 8th. If any game that we should get it you would think it would be that one. If we don't get 50 next year I guess we will all know what to think about your premonitions.

When I first read this, I was wondering if you were referring to Basketball. Then, I realized I was on the football board.

Thanks Smoopower. JonesDoe sounds like Bo Levi Mitchel's dad trying to defend Bo all the time except he is doing it for Jones.

A better question might be:

Which team will score 50 points first, the football team or the men's basketball team?

You mean Phil Bennest's SMU teams scored 50 points twice and June Jones SMU teams have yet to score 50 once?

On the subject of offensive numbers, that 2007 team scored 28.33 ppg which is good for 5th all-time in SMU history (the 2009 team was 4th with 29.23 ppg).

1981 - 33.18 pf, 12.45 pa, 20.73 diff (10-1)
1927 - 29.67 pf, 9.00 pa, 20.67 diff (7-2)
1982 - 29.50 pf, 13.33 pa, 16.17 diff (11-0-1)
2009 - 29.23 pf, 26.08 pa, 3.15 diff (8-5)
2007 - 28.33 pf, 39.75 pa, -11.42 diff (1-11)

Evidently our defense was not what it should have been in 2007...what a shame.

Come on fella's.. cheer up.. Which game will we put 50 points on next year. What would you say if it was Baylor? As for Bo, he stepped up and proved he is a winner. Myself, I try to promote confidence by projecting "positive energy" to the team because we are all transmitters and receivers in the cosmic universe and what we sow we will also reap. If you are a SMU fan do your part..

We will score 50 against Memphis or SFA, but I have no clue what that thing you wrote about transmitters and receivers meant.

Ah that 52-55 loss to Memphis was the cherry on the top of Phil Bennett's era at SMU. He calls a time out to ice the Memphis Kicker who had made about 30 percent of his kicks and he misses it. Kicker comes back and nails it right through the uprights. It couldn't have ended any better.

As long as we have our QB doing wind sprints to the coach before each snap, and we fail to cause turnovers on D, we are destined for sub-50 games. That is all. Love, Captain Obvious.
