Metro Detroit Wrestling Roundup: Oxford's Prescott Line one of six Metro Detroit wrestlers grabbing an individual state wrestling title
March 4th, 2012 12:17AM

AUBURN HILLS -- Prescott Line left The Palace the same way he did last year: As a state champion.

Capping off his undefeated season, Line beat Wayne Memorial senior Dimitrus Renfroe with a 5-1 decision to defend his 215-pound title.

"Last year, I don't think anyone expected me to win it," Line said. "Senior year, just to do it again, it just feels awesome. Two years in a row."

Prescott Line’s wrestling career came to an end Saturday. This fall, he’ll join the Southern Methodist University football team.

But the Oxford senior finished in the best possible way – with his second straight MHSAA individual championship. Line defeated Wayne Memorial’s Dimitrus Renfroe 5-1 in the Division 1 Final after also winning at that weight in 2011.

“Wrestling made me a better person. … (It develops) mental toughness, and it works on your one-on-one competition a lot,” Line said. “It’s a great sport.”

Tough high school sport... for tough kids. Can't wait to see him on the field at Ford. Wonder if Jones will redshirt him?

I was just talking about this... I don't *think* he sees time at running back, as we seem to be in good shape there, but if it's a "can't keep him off the field" situation, I can see him playing middle linebacker.

I hope the teams at a point where we won't need a freshman lb to play next fall. But...... If he's a beast, get him out there!!!

It's going to be great having him on the team. Wrestlers always make the best football players.

No way he should sniff the field this year. We're 3 or 4 deep at RB with that other Line guy, Wimbley, Nlemchi and Dugal, and we have quality depth at LB at linebacker ... and that's before four very promising freshman linebackers (I know, Longoria signed last year, but word is the coaches are fired up about him, as well as this year's signees...)

Unless Prescott Line turns out to be the second coming of Jim Brown or [deleted] Butkus, he shouldn't get on the field at all. And don't burn his redshirt on special teams.
