Let's talk football. Which position fight for starter going into Fall is most interesting to you this Spring? RB (no Line), QB (no Gilbert), OL, DE (no Hunt)??? For me it's Preston v. Kaiser. I am also anxious to see how Dieter does against our returners. BTW when does it start? I need me some Mustang talk.

Believe it starts Monday April 2.

I'll go for the battle at both kicker and punter ? Vs ?

wonder if dieter will be ready to go after his surgery. Dieter has always said he would practice but JJ was not so sure.

Line won't practice this spring but he will be the game 1 starter at RB. It's all about qb, I'm not sure if Gilbert will be there for spring, so there might be another battle in the fall but kaiser v Preston will be intresting at the very least to establish the number 2 (my guess is Preston will win this).

Who's in the mix for the other Linebacker? Obviously Reed/Davis/Rogers. What about Bordano? Loved seeing his uncle, Chris, play for Cavan. What heart that guy had. I hoped some was genetically passed along.

Agreed. I also liked seeing Chris play for the Cowboys for a short time.

Bordano was a beast. Other players on his team were afraid of him.

Bordano will more than likely never be in the mix at SMU unless we have a slew of injuries. Guys like Stephon Sanders, Holloway, Yenga, Wood, Neroes, Richard, are going to be the guys...

Agreed.

I was there when Chris Bordano played, and I definitely agree he was a beast and had tremendous work ethic. But we are now moving on to a whole other breed of recruit. As for OLB, I believe it will mostly likely be Sanders as the starter (so Reed/Davis/Rogers/Sanders at LB) and Holloway at DE (Margus/Pit/Holloway starting with Grenier/O'Guin/Davis/Barnes as rotating in at DL).

As for Spring competition, it will be interesting to watch Holloway and Preston and see how they do. Also to see how O'Guin bounces back from injury and how Nlemchi performs.

As for Summer, it's all about GG IMHO.

Thanks, Ojai. BTW how is Ojai these days, growing? It was a pleasant little burg in my LA days, 70s, 80s and 90s. Loved getting out of the city to Ojai, Ventura and SB.

You're welcome. Ojai is still a small, little refuge. About 8,000 folks. Most beautiful place I've ever lived (and I've lived all over the place).

If you're ever around these parts, PM me - we need some more SMU love in these parts! ;-)
