Gotta love that. You want to know why Texas has been bad just look at the draft. How do these top recruiting classes not translate into top draft picks?

Just got back from a luncheon and sat next to my TCU friend and she told our ut friend about how SMU players were doing better than ut's in the draft.

Waiting on Stallion's post. He will explain how this could happen and I would bet it will put SMU in a bad light somehow.

This is a stupid thread. First of all TCU and UT had few Seniors and their rosters had plenty of drafted players in recent classes. Second Thompson and Lereibus had 9+ and 8+ offers and many from top programs. They are 2 of our more highly recruited players. Once again recruiting matters. You get higher quality recruits than its more likely your team will suceed and the recruits will have a shot at the NFL

Stallion right on cue (everything he says is true, of course, as usual).

However, here's your recruiting pitch. Come be a big fish, in a BCS conference, in a huge media market, with a coaching staff with deep NFL connections (all that AND we put more people in the draft than TCU and UT) all at a program on the rise (by the time you're a senior we WILL be in a BCS bowl game). And if you don't go pro, you have a great degree to fall back on from a top academic institution.

Any questions?

Noting that SMU has more players drafted than the University of effing Texas is stupid?? I happen to think this is jaw dropping.

Who said anything about last year? And yes, our two highest drafted players are also our most highly sought after signees. Great insights.

Every year Texas has a top recruiting class. This year we had more taken in the draft. The fact that the players drafted had lots of quality offers and may therefore have been drafted anyway is nonsense, even for Stallion. Lots of teams had more players recruited with impressive lists of offers and did not have as many players drafted.

This is nothing but a great job by the SMU staff in recruiting and developing. Hats off to them.

But 4 and 5 years ago, their recruits > our recruits.

Thompson and Crawford were June's guys and Beech and leReibus were PB recruits
