Something happens at least once a year, and that's just the things we hear about.

Just think of all the stuff that is swept under the rug that you will never know.

At least they weren't beating up and stealing drugs from homeless people as did some of their National Championship players from a few years back. Better hold my tongue. The UT mole is probably monitoring my posts again.

This is a nothing story. College kids get these kind of charges all the time. Essentially a traffic ticket.

When people are injured, then I might care.

The point is that several u.t. athletes are arrested every single year for one

thing or another, whether it is burglary, rape, or drugs.

Do you know how many people get arrested on every weekend in Austin?

There is a big difference between a rape arrest and a class c misdemeanor.

I didn't say it was the same thing, I only said u.t. players are always getting

arrested for something, are you one of those cow lovers?

I have lived within a stone's throw of the UT campus for 22 years. The story here is that the police didn't look the other way.

Having done criminal defense in my past, I know how to distinguish between serious crimes and [deleted] tickets the Austin pd hands out to college kids. Vilence, sell drugs, DUI, guns = serious. Any "crime" involving urination, mouthing off, pot, underage drinking, or streaking is unlikely to be serious.

This is no different from when some frat guy gets caught taking a leak outside a bar. No big deal.
The Travis County Atty will give ask for deferred adjudication, small fine, and costs. Btw Austin PD does not look the other way. If anything, many of them have grudge against UT students.

I graduated from UT law after SMU.

They may be legally equivalent but I have 50X more respect for the guy peeing on the sidewalk. What entitled [deleted].

I agree, this is nothing for these guys. No assaults, robery, beatings, stabbings, crashing cars into buildings, fleeing the scene of a crime, massive amounts of drugs, automatic weapons, knives etc... Move along, nothing to see here.

SMU is definitely #1 on my affiliation list. Didn't apply to UT for undergrad and wouldn't send my daughter there. Frankly, I went to UT law b/c of price.

My main point is that athletes (like all college students) screw up. Sometimes they are serious (rape, guns, selling drugs, etc) and sometimes they are nothing.

Reading about the UT players, I remember what it was like in Austin at 3am. Some people talk their way out of trouble and some people talk their way into trouble.
