If we want the Big East to be a strong, viable conference the conference must show up and win a few of these key nonconference matchups. There are several opportunities in our first year in the league with nonconference games against Texas Tech, Baylor, A&M, and TCU. Here's a quick breakdown of some key nonconference games that will help give the Big East some positive buzz:

SMU - Texas Tech (Dallas) Baylor (Dallas) Texas A&M (College Station) TCU (Ft. Worth)
Houston - BYU (Houston)
Boise State - Washington (Seattle) BYU (Provo)
San Diego State - Oregon State (San Diego)
Cincinnati - Purdue (Cincinnati) Illinois (Chicago)
UConn - Maryland (East Hartford) Michigan (East Hartford)
Central Florida - South Carolina (Orlando)
Louisville - Kentucky (Lexington)
Rutgers - Arkansas (Piscattaway)
Temple - Notre Dame (South Bend) Maryland (College Park)
South Florida - Michigan State (East Lansing) Miami (FL) (Tampa)

There are several opportunities for the conference to show its worth in nonconference. Lets hope we can get it done.

Might want to go back and edit the schedule for SMU, something about it seems a little off.

In 2013 it will be YEAR SIX of the June Jones era. When he was hired he said it was a five year project to get us to where we can compete with anyone. The 2013 schedule is the opportunity to prove it.

Was he talking about recruits?

No we was talking about the state of the program. I remember in several interviews after the 1-11 season June would say that he viewed SMU as a five year rebuild and that by that time we should be able to compete with anybody.
