In addition to last year's seniors, players are officially off the roster from last year:

Linebackers Byron Brown and Victor Jones, offensive lineman Joey Fontana and defensive lineman Mike O'Guin have been medically disqualified (they remain in school on scholarship but no longer take a roster spot or one of the team's allotted 85 scholarships).

Wide receiver Nyle Johnson and defensive back Mike Sparling have left SMU.

Man, Mike O'Guin just can't get a break. Need his size on the dline.

yeah, I was always pulling for mike. I hope his knee progresses. Won't play for us I guess, but I wish him the best of health.

Wasn't brown expected to be a contributor this year? Am I forgetting an injury or something?

Sparling was never going to crack the 2 deep.

Nyle Johnson was academics.

DJ3, Banjo, Bryan Collins, Jay Scott all have made big contributions.

Byron Brown has helped on Special Teams

Fontana had a tough break with his horrible injury.

James Richardson contributed on ST as a true frosh and will start this year.

Nlemchi has a bright future as does Robert Seals (the coaches have been raving about him).

His 2012 class was probably his best class and all should have promising careers.

Byron Brown was hurt (carted off) in the USM game with a concusion, and he missed the remainder of the season ... I believe. I'm not sure if that is still effecting him or not. I wish Mike O'Guin the best, but I don't think he would have seen the field hurt or not from converations I have heard ... not sure he lived up to the hype, highlight film, or work ethic in the coaches eyes.

Here's a tip of the hat to the guys who got hurt in the name of playing for SMU. All the best, guys.

Yes, Major reason he came to SMU, otherwise would have went Kansas with Charlie

We owe "surfer coach" a huge thank you for his recruiting services (if only for Dieter alone). I think we have a better WR COACH now (and hopefully ultimately a better recruiter) but he got some quality guys here.

Yeah, appears that I spoke out of my [deleted] this time. He indeed pulled in a number of quality guys. But is still seems that every guy who doesn't qualify or leaves due to academics is a Reinbold guy. I guess a lot of that is just due to the law of averages seeing as a large part of each class was his.
