I think he has made a strong case for accepting the sanctions and responsibility of the institution's action. Clearly a brave statement giving the emotions involved. Accept responsibility and the consequences. And move forward.

PSUs President, "We are grateful for our student-athletes that they are allowed to play." (No Death Penalty) That was what they were worried about.

I agree with that sentiment. The players had nothing to do with Sandusky's rapes and Paterno's cover-up. The institution should be penalized and not the players. For the players, the greatest harm would have been to eliminate their capability to play. The sanctions preserved their ability to play at Pediphile State or someplace else.

The university will be punished when those players (hopefully) choose to transfer to another school.

How long is the transfer window open? As it stands right now not many schools have any scholarships left for the coming season. Some will open up in December or January, but these kids transfer options might be very limited.

Agreed. If very few transfer then it really lessons the punishment.

It said on ESPN last night that PSU agreed to the sanctions in order to avoid having to possibly suffer through FOUR years of no football - that was what the NCAA was holding over their heads.

If that's the truth, then WAY TO GO NCAA.
