The Penn State players met and decided they are going to stay and play and make their own legacy in an attempt to separate themselves from the Sandusky fiasco. They have a lot of character to make this decision. (This was on Sports Center this morning.)

What were they supposed to say ? Man this sucks, I'm out. Deuces. I think the statement from the players is a decent damage control PR move, but not much more.

Consider:

They're still on tv
Bowls are an afterthought in big televen anyway (season ends before everyone else..then play a game 2.5 months later)?
Like one of them said, there will still be 100,000+ in the stands
Look at a) how they went nuts showing their "strength" playing the Nebraska game after all this came out
Look at the we are.. b).exercise on joepas lawn when he was canned / about to be canned for harboring and enabling a pedo
C)Look at their responses yesterday..from the coeds crying and looking stunned on the front page to the "this is 9/11 planes flying into the building" from another guy

To me all this points to them staying. Besides, USC had a similarly huge loss of scholies and probation and they weren't wiped off the map.

That's the big one.

Without TV, any player who harbors NFL dreams is gone.

This is the single piece of the punishment puzzle that makes me think that the penalties were not severe enough.

Most Penn St. students, fans, and supporters need their asses kicked on general principle for the stupid things they've been saying. Make them build a Homecoming float for a flipping soccer game, then they can think about whining.

They added got off with a heavy slap to the hand. What a joke. As noted, they didn't lose any TV exposure so they really didn't lose any major face time. Emmert is such a blow hard. Perv state stinks.

Go Ponies!

Plus one on the soccer float. Part of me wants to bulldoze the soccer field out of spite.

And, of course, they remain on scholarship if they stay...another factor..

From the last page of the Rotunda (during that time frame)-

Our Homecoming float consisting of a flatbed with convertible mustang. (a lot of creative juice went into the design)

Neither the homecoming queen nominee nor DMN were too impressed. (maybe she had tears of happiness)

HC nominee for obvious reasons.
DMN wrote in their paper how SMU students should learn history (see picture).
We wrote them a nice letter back

I do have to say that senior year wasn't so bad.
1) I got so loaded for the Rice game that I could barely stand up.
2) I got to enjoy beating UConn
3) I got to yell "Run up the score" at UNT fans the week after Houston put up 95 on us
