Does anyone have any insight on where he sits on the depth chart currently? I think someone posted that he never played in the spring (which would make sense since I never saw any reports on him then).

I think he has all-world potential. Reportedly 6'5', 260 lbs and can run a 4.6?!? I know it's high school, but look at these highlights. Look at his closing speed.

I know he hasn't been playing long but I think he has the potential to be even better than Stephon Sanders. I'm pulling for him to start opposite Hunt. Maybe I'm nuts, but this guy is flying WAY under the radar screen IMHO and I foresee huge upside with him.

Thoughts?

was going to call BS on the 4.6 until i saw the film. This guy can really close once he gets a step or two.

Doesn't look very strong yet, might need some work in the weight room before he hits the field. Looks like he has size and speed though for sure....

If he did not play in the spring, is he even at SMU now ? Don't remember his name being mentioned anytime this summer. A lot of potential. Hope he is here this fall.

He had an issue with a transfer credit from high school in the Spring and had to sit out. I hope this has been resolved.

He was definitely enrolled but had to sit out due to the transfer credit issue.
I hope you are right and he will be in fall camp.

He was one of the only players that wasn't here this summer. He is supposed to be here Friday.

This kid was a 3-star recruit and has a lot of potential. I think he needs a redshirt year to beef up and get some technique training.

According to the smumustangs.com roster, he is listed at 6'5" and 260 lbs. The same source that lists Kevin Grenier at 6'5" and 265 lbs and Margus Hunt at 6'8" and 275 lbs. I don't think Holloway needs to do much more "beefing up". I think the dude is ready, physically, now. With all due respect to Grenier, Holloway is much more athletic - just needs the reps and coaching. I think he starts now. But, what do I know.

There is a big difference between a 6-5, 260 high school kid and a 6-5, 260 4th year multiple lettermen. If there isn't we need to fire the conditioning coach. Holloway has played 2 years of football in his life and has sat out a 1 1/2. It would be great if he is ready but I wouldn't hold my breath expecting it. You know you have a good program when guys who sit or play secondary roles become team leaders when given an opportunity as upperclassmen. We have guys that should be ready to step up who have been in the program. I'd be disappointed if they didn't.

Great points as usual. I'm a bit biased towards Holloway being a Cali kid and all. ;-)

His kind of athleticism is what we need to take it to the next level - or the athleticism I THINK/HOPE he has anyway. Will be fun to watch.

Holloway might be the player we hope he will -- a dominant stud DE in Coach Mason's defense. But there's no way he starts now. After sitting out spring ball, he has too much ground to make up. In addition to Hunt and Grenier, there's also Zach Wood, Beau Barnes, Cameron Smith, etc. Let's just get Holloway back so he can practice and learn the defense as a redshirt in 2012.
