Interesting blog:

"I’ve never met Cole Beasley. I had never heard of him until the Dallas Cowboys signed him as an undrafted rookie receiver out of SMU earlier this summer. But, now more than ever he alone may best define the state of the Dallas Cowboys. Let me explain."

Beasley hasn't made the cut, yet. There is still a lot of preseason to go. He must fill a need for the Cowboys as they are willing to work with him.

And we have no idea why Beasley left the Cowboys. It is totally out of the character we witnessed at SMU so one might assume it was a significant and serious reason. Perhaps significant and serious enough for the Cowboys to recognize the need for him to take a little time away from Camp.

An undrafted player getting this kind of consideration indicates that Cole is doing a great job filling a huge need for the Cowboys and there is more to this story than we will probably ever know. And I hope it works out the best for Cole.

My gut tells me that Cole was getting harassed by the players in the Cowboys own locker room. He is small, comes from a small program and is pretty soft spoken.

The reason I think this is a comment June made during the interview:

Mentions getting messed with in the dining hall and jacked up on the field etc.

I know there are some quality guys on the Cowboys, I really hope they step up and support guys like Cole and be leaders....that camaraderie and leadership is what I feel the Cowboys are missing and what I am glad it looks like SMU has developed

You must be such a little b*tch, Blvd_Stang. You think that Cole left the Cowboys because he was getting picked on in the dining hall? You don't achieve what Cole has in his career by having a weak, quitter attitude like that. What a joke.

Best of luck to Cole and I hope whatever is going on in his personal life has been resolved or is improving.

I agree with Blvd_Stang. Jones had spoken to him and that's what he said. He was frustrated, so what. We all still want him to do well. Now stop picking on Blvd_Stang before he quits the message boards.

I seriously doubt Beasley he jut took his ball and went home because someone made fun of him.

It is obvious I have been a fan of June Jones and his methods of preparation and training of young men for the NFL. Jones builds their confidence and promotes their interaction with the media in preparation for dealing with success in the NFL and the resulting media attention. While I enjoy getting the coverage of my team and players I am beginning to see there is a real downside to allowing the camera and reporters to get this close. This seems to be most evident when the player begins speaking from the heart.

My concerns are a result of following Colt Brennan's career since 2006. Colt during his college days was on television being interviewed during football season on multiple local Hawaiian television stations very frequently, almost daily. Later when he was being interviewed on ESPN (TMZ of the sports world). All the hype leading up to the Sugar Bowl and Colt being the "Hawaii" front man, confident and a little COCKY in those interviews, he really polarized, turned off, Peed off and irritated many who play or have played in the BCS type programs IMO.

The Sugar Bowl turned into Colt Brennan against the Bulldogs and the BCS. I doubt any of the PAC 10 officials officiating that game came from a WAC or Sunbelt background. My point is Colt's actions my have played a significant part in the beating he received in New Orleans. Colt was HIT HARD nine times after releasing the ball to go along with the ten sacks. The Fox announcers were complaining about the Dog's jumping the snap and late hits. After the game I saw a youtube where Georgia was being interviewed and the DE said "I saw I had a clear shot at Brennan and I wanted to hit him directly under the chin". The video showed Colt's neck extending what seemed to be three or four inches and was pulled off the net within hours of the game. I have never seen any QB college or pro take a beating anywhere near what Colt endured for three quarters and he got back up every time and stood back in the pocket and kept fighting never showing any fear only tears when Jones pulled him so he could play again. I don't know what was worse for his career the excessive media attention or the beating he received for it.

Beasley like Jones and the earlier poster said may be getting a dose of verbal Blow Back from some of his teammates for the comments about his view of himself and Welker. What will TMZ and ESPN have to say prior to the Cowboys and Patriots eventual game if the Beas and Welker are both in the game. Can Beas deal with the downside of this kind of attention he himself created? I hope so because I have a hunch it is not going away until he backs up his views on the field so his work is cut out for him.

Haha I was just speculating and I wouldn't quit the board because one person has a differing view. But I do spend a lot more time on the rivals board now since it's mostly constructive conversation and far less bickering. But I'll always show love to PF.

All in all, I don't think it was too much of a stretch to assume he was singled out because of the comments June made. And JonesDoe makes a good point about the Welker comments. I specifically remember him saying he was different than Welker in that he was a little faster. That's pretty audacious for a dude trying to make the roster comparing himself to a potential HOFer.

Overall, the level of vitriol on this site needs to take a complete 180. Everyone here has walked over that seal in Dallas Hall or will one day. Under all the differing viewpoints, everyone here wants SMU to go undefeated every year. So have your opinions about how we should do it, and discuss it like you would with friends.
