Baylor defense gets Penn State DE transfer

From another site.

"Bears get a transfer -- fomer 4-star 2011 class DE from Penn State by the name of Shawn Oakman. That is filling a big need at DE. This guy is 6'8" and 250 lbs. This could be a huge "get." He was rated 19th nationally at his position in the 2011 class. Was he fallout from Sandusky stuff? Not sure. And not sure of when he is eligible.

He arrived on campus today."

Probably sits out a year then plays. Transferred pre-NCAA ruling so it's doubtful he plays this year but there is a low % chance.

I understand the ideas of forgiveness and redemption, but I'm really surprised a place like Baylor would put up with somebody coming from that sort of lifestyle.

He's actually been on campus for about a month, and his eligibility is still being determined by the NCAA. Have heard from a couple people that think he will get cleared for this year due to all the crap at Penn St.

Better that we play Baylor game 1 and this guy's impact will be minimized. He may make Baylor look better in later games and reflect better on us.

Just win baby!

That's an incomprehensibly stupid comment. Penn St.'s players had absolutely nothing to do with the sanctions-can't always say that about other programs with widespread cheating such as anoth Big Time Baylor recruit Lache Seastrunk from Oregon (where a lot of smoke is involved) but Penn St transfers really don't deserve to be vilified

Wonder of he contacted them first or if Baylor reached out to him?

Penn St so far also has 5 decommitments from Class of 2013

The decommitments from the Class Of 2013:
* 4-star DT Greg Webb to North Carolina
* 4-star CB Ross Douglas to Michigan (where he goes from instant playing time at PSU to buried on the UM depth chart)
* 4-star OT Dorian Johnson (still uncommitted)
* 3-star CB/WR Will Fuller to Notre Dame (where he figures to be buried on the depth chart just like Douglas)
* 3-star LB Zack Bradshaw (who will play at WR, his 2nd-best position)

I could see either way. We have two former psu staffers and Phil Taylor transferred to BU from PSU recently and went in round 1.

It's called a sense of humor. Look it up.

But thanks for CAPITALIZING "Big Time" to point out how great Baylor is going to be.
