Looking at getting a generator for boulevarding this season. Every salesman I've spoken to is an idiot and it sounds like a lot of people on here do it up on the blvd. Looking to power TV, satelite, music, etc. How much power do I need? 1000 watt? 2500? is 5000 watts complete over kill?

I would guess that you could look at all the equipment that you would like to bring with you and power up. On the back is a power rating (the small print) and then sum up all the power ratings. Maybe the TV is 100W or whatever. Then purchase a generator that will handle all the loads that you came up with. Buy bigger than you need vice smaller.

Or just plug in the power outlets that are provided along the Blvd.

Do the power outlets get taken pretty early?

Note: I am not sure what the rules are for the parking lot you use. Some places prohibit them to limit noise. I will assume you can use one on the blvd, but don't know.

You do NOT want a traditional generator. Even small, traditional generators make an enormous amount of noise. At the NY Jets games (STH), one group that usually parks near us has a traditional generator to power their RV, flat screen, and other crap. To keep the noise away, they have to use a 100ft+ extension cord to keep it away from their tailgate spot.

They are much quieter than the traditional generators and allegedly make "cleaner" power (which is a good thing if you need to power electronics). They are also relatively light. The downside to them is the cost/wattage is pretty high.

Make sure you look at "peak" loads and "running" loads when you pick the size you need. If it is a close call, buy more than you need b/c you can never have to much power.

Honda is the biggest manufacturer in the inverter space. Their market share is huge. If you go to places like Cabelas or Bass Pro Shops, they will have cheaper versions by Yamaha or knockoff brands. I would buy a Honda, but that is just me.

There are multiple plug ins along the Boulevard. Most are taken early and are spaced out 100 yards apart.
I have a 1000 watt gen as back up.
