Tell me what you know, what you have seen as it relates to Gilbert's mobility, speed. Is he more JWill or KyleP/McD-like?

I wouldn't put mcd in the same category as Padron.

Gilbert has some good straight line speed and some escapability. However, he doesn't have the agility that a player like Colt McCoy had to be a real effective running QB. Put it this way, if there is a hole and he can run straight ahead to get the first, he can do it well and faster than many. However, if he has to make someone miss in the hole, he is average. You don't really want him doing too much running and instead, have him throw the ball around like QBs under Leach. Here, is his highlight video at UT in 2010. He makes a nice run at the 1:06 mark but it is pretty much a straight ahead run. He also has a few in a row around the 2:50 mark or so.

He is much better than our last two QB's as far as mobility.

i think he is definitely not a JWill - but he will be more mobile the pardon and Waaaaay more mobile the McD
I am surprised at how big he looks also. Don't recall him having that height. He can sure wing that ball around - this is going to be fun to watch.

I don't think Garrett is a pure sprinter, by any means, but I watched through the fence Saturday, and it looks like he has a pretty good "feel" for pressure and moves around in the pocket pretty well. If people are looking for a pure scrambler, they're going to be disappointed, but he seems able to elude traffic pretty well. Then again nobody is allowed to hit the QBs, so it's hard to get a good read now anyway.

He's mobile enough. Probably about as mobile as Padron (more mobile than one would think if you go back and look) but thicker/stronger.

Hope that is the G2 we see this year on the field. I have to believe if anyone can turn I'm around it is June.

Gilbert is a much better athlete and more fluid runner than Padron and McD. You'll see better throws on the run, more plays kept alive, and more yards picked up on runs than in the previous seasons. Needs to learn to slide though.

Plus, with his athleticism he will be a few seconds faster jogging back and forth to the sideline to get the next play so he will have 4-5 more seconds to read the defense pre-snap which will make a world of difference.

Sheesh, I hope we don't do this anymore this year. Did Timmy Chang/Colt Brennan have to do this I wonder.
