Source: Big East has hired Chris Bevilacqua and Alan Gold as consultants to negotiate new TV deal. They consulted on Pac12's record deal.

At some point, we need to rebrand the thing.

Name will stay the Big East. As long as the Big Ten has 12 teams and the Big 12 has 10 teams, names dont mean crap

My point is that the "Big East" seems to have negative branding. Maybe we can start over?

ESPN reporting that the Big East hired consultants to negotiate payouts when the league folds in 7-9 days.

For better or worse, now is not the time to rebrand. If it tried, people would "know" it was ashamed of the old name.
The BE has a great brand in BB and poor one in FB. Instead of changing the name,they need to focus on promoting/improving the football.

Rebranding would occur after TV deal - part of the new TV rollout. Not now, but next year.
Something reiterating a NATIONAL conference if that's the selling point ... The C2C ("Coast to Coast Conference"). Yeah, I know, that's terrible.

Big East carries a lot of name recognition and good will. Don't want to give off the impression that we're CUSA II

Good point. Maybe just needs a big marketing campaign promoting THE BIG EAST. Get PROACTIVE about the criticism, etc ... I would push the statistics of how BE teams have performed (including the new members) against the ACC, bowl games, etc.
