I am assuming this is a current scrimmage. For those of you that have seen our practices, do our athletes look like theirs? Just curious.

Interesting. Baylor's QB appears to be a small three star guy with only other offer to Purdue.

From that quick recap, it sounds like Phil's D got torched.

They are beatable, but we're going to have to score early and often IMHO.

Speaking of scrimmages, does SMU do one open to the public ("red and blue scrimmage" or something like that?) With no preseason games, I'm wondering if that could be part of the reason we've started so slowly each season (doesn't help when you open against aTm and Baylor though I know). Of course, you have to be concerned with injuries, etc, but if you do it relatively early (like early this week), it gives you plenty of time to look at tape, heal up small injuries, etc ... Maybe build up to a big scrimmage for a Tuesday, take Wednesday off physically and watch tape, clean up mistakes on Thursday and Friday ...

Dang. You oughta call June with this idea. I'm sure he's open to suggestions. After all, he's relatively new to the game.

yes, they do one open practice, but not a true scrimmage. just a glorified practice.

Cute.

It seems many teams have "promotional" scrimmages, and I just wonder why we don't. I'm a big JJ fan so I was just having a little fun with what would one do if it were his team.

So, since obviously June isn't "new to the game", what's the reason to not have one? Maybe, Bergermeister, you can enlighten us since I can't ask June directly if you have any insight.

I defer to...

Head Coach Art Briles
On the scrimmage today:
On the offensive performance:"We were ok, it was hit and miss. Our guys are a little worn to say the least. I thought the energy was pretty good. I thought we looked a little sluggish on both sides of the ball. We had a few unforced errors. Defensive side had a few broken assignments that led to huge plays on the offensive side of the ball, which you can't have. It is fall camp and is happening pretty fast and we will continue to get better."
