Which Freshman?

Which freshman recruit has the best chance to play in the most games this year? To Start? I'd say Seaver Meyers (to play) or Gehrig Dieter (to start, in case of injury).

Myers and Lowe have been alternating at RT right now, but if Reich can come back from injury and Lowe is fit, Reich and Lowe will batter there. Rice got a look at LG earlier in camp, but with Free healthy, I think they would probably rather redshirt him as well.
I think the players to keep an eye on are Stewart, Montes and Randolph.
Randolph is still running third string, but you can see his athleticism. It might take him some time to push to second string but I think he will be in the saftey rotation by the end of the year.
Montes has shown some flashes. With JR out, I think he could be second string corner the second half of the year, and might see some KR/Pr duty.
Stewart I think is also impacted by Jr getting hurt. I think we will see Stewart in KR/PR at some point.

Hopefully we will not start a true freshman at KR/PR in the first game. Statistics show true freshmen, no matter how good they are, usually fumble on a KR/PRs in a first game. Remember that is what happened at Texas Tech in 2010 to start the game on a PR early in the first Quarter, deep in our own territory. A freshman fumble..Result, Texas Tech TD and we ended up with an 8 point loss at Tech that year. Baylor on National TV first game with everybody watching, hopefully the coaches will remember this. Give them a shot against Stephen F Austin, but not Baylor.

I definitely remember the fumble against Tech, but I have never seen a statistic that it usually happens. What is the stat you are referring to? Do you have a link?

Can't remember where I read that a few years ago, but I remember it said on average a true freshman will fumble once in every four attempts on PRs in a first season game.

I hope we get a chance to see what Dieter can do.
