Former sWc Schools - Hate Rankings

The other day, I got to thinking about which former conference teams I hate and why.

UT - if I didn't have a degree from there, they would top the list b/c of ringleader status

TCU - while they are traditional rivals, I have to give them credit for fighting their way out of the abyss. If Pye ..... Can't hate them for doing a good job.

Champion - Baylor - the only reason they ended up in the Big 12 was luck. At least TCU earned it.

Texas would be the team I like the least and it is not even close. They did not like it when we beat them at their own game. Also, anyone that tells E.D. he will never get a job in Texas is not on my good side.

BU and Tech were lucky to crash the Big 12 as otherwise it would have been a ten team party. BU has obviously not managed the asset well once in the big 12 until recently but at the time of the SWC breakup had outperformed Tech by a considerable margin. If any of the SWC teams in the big 12 earned it the least prior to being invited it was Tech.

I was going to say Phillips University, but since they dropped football in 1933 and since the school closed in 1998, I'll give them a break.

That means Southwestern is on the top of my hate list especially since they were the first team to leave the SWC. I can't believe they're bringing back football in 2013 after taking 62 years off. Maybe they can join CUSA.

Would put Baylor and Houston at the top of my personal hate ranking for their willingness to sucker punch and kick us while we were down. From a traditional rivalry perspective, would look to TCU. Rival games I enjoyed most would be the Texas games back in the day.

Former SWC schools hate list in order from most hated to least hated (and the one loved)

1 - Texas - too many reasons to list
2 - TCU - next door rival that have developed some of the cockiest fans
3 - Houston - 98 reasons
4 - Baylor - Waco (need I say more)
5 - Texas Tech - the fans are terrible, mid conference program that believe they are top tier, Lubbock
6 - Arkansas - started breakup of SWC
7 - Texas A&M - nice fans, but they are just Aggies
8 - Rice - no problems with these guys, I actually feel for them as they go through their Pye years
9 - SMU - GREATEST SCHOOL EVER IN THE SWC, great fans, Dallas, Campus, Boulevard, etc., etc.

OU was never in the SWC.

Here's my official hate list:

1) UT
2) Arkansas
3) Texas Tech
4) TCU
5) Houston

I've never been able to hate Baylor, A&M, or Rice.

Actually both OU and OSU were in the SWC in the early 1900s before they left for what would eventually become the Big 8.

From wikipedia:

The Southwest Conference (SWC) was a college athletic conference in the United States from 1914 to 1996. It consisted of schools mostly in the state of Texas and one in Arkansas, with historical members in Oklahoma.
The charter members of the conference were Baylor University, Oklahoma A&M University (now Oklahoma State University), Rice University, Southwestern University (in Georgetown, Texas), Texas A&M University, the University of Arkansas, the University of Oklahoma, and the University of Texas.

We joined in 1918, and OU left in 1919.

1) TCU - i will admit that part of my hate is based in my envy of their recent football success - but also they think they are our equal in quality of school - and we are waaaay closer to them in football then they are to us in academics. Plus they are just cocky beyond belief. Even now it is as if we didnt kick their butt last year. They are lucky it went to overtime - we dominated most of the game. I think we win again - and Patterson will literally explode.

2) Texas - so much arrogance - hard to stomach. Even though they have sucked for a couple of years now they think they are a top 5 team. They will still suck this year until some Rhode scholar on their tremendously over-rated coaching staff figures out they can win if they just give it to Johnathan Grey 30 times a game.

3) Baylor - just because - although some of my hate is actually pity - and some of it is based on their really tired holier then thou routine. Another school that thinks they are ivy league but the stats say they are Richland college. Really like RGIII though - that guy was awesome.

4) A$M - They are like the guy in the back of class that eats glue. You definately dont want to spend any time around him, but its hard to hate something that sad.

5) Tech - In Animal House when Dean Wormer said "fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life" he was thinking of Tech.

6). Arkansas - Broyles is a digusting individual. Just a jerk. Otherwise they are fine - and i will admit calling the hogs seems like fun.

7). Rice - Super smart, but time to give up on sports.

8). Houston - Whatever. We exorcised the 98 point game when we cleaned their clock later so i am over that. I guess they are a rival but i dont know one person stupid enough to have gone there so i guess its hard to get a rivalry going.
