Deserve a lot of credit for traveling well and this needs to be recognized. Great crowd. Another disappointing aspect of this loss is that SMU spit the bit so badly in front of a crowd just brimming with excitement for the team and the season.
If you keep getting killed like that, no one will bother traveling. If June wants fans at games he needs to get the team ready rather than blowing games like A and M and Baylor and looking unprepared to play. This loss is like popping a balloon. Sad.
I think this team rebounds, but surely wish one year we could win a opening road game. The last opening day win was 1986.
If we beat A and M or TCU, I will delete this post.

Figures. ; ) I just hope the Mustangs and June make me eat my words - nothing would make me more happy.

Agreed. Good contingent of SMU fans in Waco yesterday, I thought.

I totally agree Treadway21 - after the incredible turnout in Birmingham and the team responding, things could not have been set up better for the first road game of 2012 to be so close and against a traditional rival.
The SMU fans did not disappoint. Unfortunately, the team did. A dreadful missed opportunity to build the SMU fan base.

DanFreiberger, Great point about the bowl game. Another problem with the egg we laid is we are finally marketing ourselves to Dallas, and we need to show we can win to get return on investment. Let's just hope the team rebounds and finds a way to beat A & M or TCU to get our excitement back.

Same thing happened junes very first game as well. SMU traveled well, and the performance on the field did nothing to seize a golden opportunity. Road wins where the fans are excited and bond and enjoy the experience are what beget more of the same.

OT but I got to shake Lance McIlhenny's hand at the gate, which was pretty cool

Very enthusiastic early from where I was sitting. Lots of students, lots of red..
We just didn't have anything to cheer about - not one goddam play all game.
People were antsy by the 3rd quarter - TV first half was a couple hours, plus the beatdown from the Bears and that merciless sun that stayed juuuuuuuust to the right of the pressbox

.
Didn't see any disrespect on either side - very well behaved crowd thank God.
Didn't like the ticket office system crashing online and over the phone, but the general admission at the gate actually worked - just go in, find a space and sit..

According to Topper we shouldn't go to games until October and November because that is when JJ should be doing his for real coaching.

I had some [deleted] cop confiscate my beer as I was walking back to the stadium at halftime. I was surrounded by Baylor fans with beers, but b/c I was wearing red I got singled out and he stole my beer! what a jerk.

With the crap display the coaches and the team showed us JJ has absolutely no reason to beatch when there are no fans in the stadium. That game was an embarrassing wipeout. Poor coaching, poor preparation, and even worse execution.
