If June were to get fired, who would you want SMU hire for the position?

Let's wait and see a couple games. Gilbert has had almost no time to get in sync and Baylor could very well be awesome.

If SMU has a blow out this week the same people will be clamoring for a contract extension.

Well, maybe not this week, but certainly the 2-3 weeks after...

The only people that will be clamoring for a contract extension are the June slurpers who think he should be SMU's coach for life.

I doubt you could name one of those "June slurpers" you mention. There aren't any. June has done what we paid him to do...get us in the conversation and in the NBE. Next coach needs to get us up in the Top 30 every year and I for one would happily help pay for him. I think June will leave after 2013 even with a BCS invite next year (which of course is 99% doubtful, but 1% possible).

Jones isn't going anywhere because we fire him. He might get a better offer and leave us. And I don't want to fire him.

Having been through rebuilding, and with slightly better recruiting tools, it still takes time to build a program. We all admire TCU and it took TCU years to get to the point of national relevance. We too must be patient.

I too am not happy that we got the snoot kicked out of us in that Hadeshole Waco but the players and the coaches aren’t happy either. Jones has shown us he can improve our recruiting and our record. And move us forward.

One poor game against a good opponent isn’t cause to hit the panic button and act like Beloved Razorback fans that
A) Blame the refs then
B) Demand a winning coach get fired.


Decrease stupid penalties, take care of the ball and it is a much more competitive game. And we might even have a chance. But our team has to learn to play mistake free (very difficuult when kids are pressing) to beat these better teams.

No reason to fire JJ. If he retires after this year (or next, or whenever), get Bobby Petrino.

The same group constantly making excuses for his blunders and thinking that just because he got us to mediocre with a model no coach before him had that he should be here as long as he wants. Who they are should be pretty easy to figure out if you follow this board with any modicum of regularity.
