Captain Obvious says "must win game", otherwise you are looking at a possible 0-4 start. I hope to see a fired up team and much more aggressive defense with Davis flying around. Margus need to show up too.

Beat the Lumberjacks!

Strong performance against SFA --- Get a W against the Aggie then all is good on the Hilltop !

If we couldn't get to Florence and he is not a great runner anyway then we might be in big trouble with the really good oline for A&M and Manziel who can really scoot. That is granted Manziel gets off to a good start. And the Aggies have very quality backs-better than Baylor.

We didn't even breathe on Tannehill last season, the only way A&M's offense will be stopped is by their own unforced errors.

Florence isn't the 4.3 burner that RG3 was but he's a good runner. He's a guy like Dalton or McCoy that will time in the 4.7-4.8 ranges but is a smart & quick runner that is very effective.

As for Manziel, no idea on him. He needs to be able to throw it or else SMU can drop a safety down and stuff the run with an 8 man box. That's more important than his straight line speed as it changes how SMU can play them. Tannehill made you pay for it and this kid may or may not be able to do the same. Tannehill hit some tough throws in that game.

SMU will greatly benefit if Mason can drop that extra guy down as the DL really struggled vs that OL last year. It would really help shore up the run D.

As for their RB's- Michael is very good but our 3 can perform at a very high level. Salubi, Martin, and Seastrunk as a trio can easily compare.

At WR the only one of their WR that could start for us is Swope.

I feel like the game comes down to the QB's. SMU will be familiar with the new Aggie offensive scheme having faced it at UH and done a decent job limiting it last year. Big key will be making that freshman qb beat you.

There is a talent gap between TAMU and SMU. Their guys are a little bit bigger, stronger, and faster. I hate to be negative, but the realist in me says get ready for a beatdown. TCU is going to be tough as well. While we all want the glory of beating our former SWC conference-mates, a more realistic goal is to make a run at the C-USA conference title and not worry too much about the Big-12 non-conference games.

But hey, if we win one or both of those games I'll be thrilled. TAMU could (just maybe) be interesting since we're at home, they're coming off of Florida, and its only week 2 for them. If they make mistakes, we might have a chance. But I've lived through too many Big-12 beatdowns to get too excited about our chances.

With or without June Jones, recruiting is going to have to improve significantly if you want to see wins against quality Big-12 opponents. TAMU last year and Baylor this year demonstrated that decisively.

True, we all know these SWC games are just rent a fan attendance bait games. We just don't have the staff in place to pull out anything but an occasional fluke win in those games.

if you want to market yourself as Dallas' Team, you better win some games IN DALLAS! I think winning against TCU or TAMU is the jolt that we need to energize a fan base.

Start out 1-3 or worse, 0-4, and you can kiss any new fans goodbye.

Malena and their stud frosh are very good runners. Manziel was very good in high school-where he passed and ran very well. He was the offense.

Our record has been pretty good in Dallas playing against Copeland and the rest of the dwarves. Start beating some quality opponents, and get some better recruits that are exciting to watch and you'll have better luck with the marketing gig. Also I'm about to start rooting against the damn Rangers, because I have a feeling a lot of our fans would rather go to their playoff games.

Still D1 is a jump and he has ZERO snaps. Probably will do just fine but until he does something its a big question mark.

There's not much overlap between Rangers games and our games though when there is it's because they're playing high stakes games. RIght now for a fan of both teams the choice of which game to attend (assuming going to both isn't an option) is pretty obvious. All the more reason for us to develop a legit on-field product ASAP.
