Mustang Fans Asked To Wear White For Saturday's Game Against SFA

DALLAS (SMU) - Temperatures are predicted to be in the 80s, but SMU is hoping for blizzard-like conditions on Saturday, as it has announced a "WHITE OUT" for the Sept. 8th home opener. Fans attending the game are asked to wear white to show support for the Mustangs as they host the 21st-ranked (FCS) Stephen F. Austin Jacks at 7 p.m. at Ford Stadium.

The Mustang offense rolled up over 500 yards of offense in week one, led by Zach Line, whose 135 rushing yards gave him the 16th 100-yard games of his career, and Garrett Gilbert, who threw for 286 and two TDs.

The Jacks enter the game winners of six straight, 1-0 in 2012 and ranked No. 21 in the latest FCS poll. They are 26-11 over the course of the past three-plus seasons. SFA returns five starters on defense and 10 on offense, including preseason All-Americans Cordell Roberson and Gralyn Crawford, and trounced Southwestern Oklahoma, 49-14, in its season opener last Friday.

I will be in white. It is tradition, after all.

Yeah no, even the very few of us who get the message still want to wear red/blue. There's no way that anyone beyond that tiny student section of frats/sororities will be wearing all white.

I am white, so I guess that counts.

Why wear white when our players on the field will be wearing red??? Come on SMU...

Just overpaid for a new red shirt. Not going to over pay for a white one now. My hat is white.

Yeah, kinda bush league. Empty stadium and a loss to an FCS school with 20 people wearing all white. Hmmm.

Well, it seems our fans wore red at Baylor when the team wore all white so wearing white when the team will be in red jerseys just makes perfect sense doesn't it?

When they sell out the stadium with SMU fans maybe then the marketing whiz kids can think about a "white out".

The problem is not the color, it is that they keep changing it. What happened to all the "wear red " from last week? You won't get everyone to participate when nobody outside of ponyfans gets the memo.

I don't care what color we wear, as long as we have a respectable turnout...


Since they already put it out there to wear white, I'm going to wear white. I know it doesn't make sense, oh well...

"Wear red" is standard for every game except the first home game. It's been announced multiple times through email, Facebook, etc. that wearing white to the first home game is the latest attempt at a new tradition.

1. who cares about a white out for SFA...what are we wearing to the A&M game? red and maroon is gonna look bad, i say BLUE OUT!
