Whoa---most have never said anything about giving up on the Ponies. As a matter of fact it is the Ponies I am concerned about---not June. June's poor attitude of not wanting to be at SMU started last year to play out in the mood of the team. It continues to this day that June shows no heart for SMU. June needs to man up and be the adult to guide these young men. Although I cannot stand June for the the blue mood he puts on the team so that they do not perform their best, I will be at the games. I could care less if we win or lose, but that we play with heart because we love SMU and we love the game. I also don't care who the coach is as long as he is happy to be here and treats the team with the dignity they deserve.

Silly. June Jones is the only coach who can get us to this level? Our best hope is to be barely good enough to get into some bottom tier bowls?

The outrage and "fire June" talk is silly at this point but so is the June worship.

He is the first coach to be given the tools to actually succede yet his offense, as I have shown, is not even as good as the Rusty Burns offense was operating under far more restrictions.

June is pretty good at building an OK team that can crush bad teams with some style but even at Hawaii he never did more.

Go look at who he actually beat at SMU and at Hawaii. Now compare those teams we beat to the worst teams in Big East. If we are just going to fire June in 2 years when we get crushed in BE play I would rather do it now. THERE IS NOT MUCH TIME BEFORE THE NEXT CONFERENCE SHIFTING. If we don't get onthetrain now we will be in the new DI-AA with Rice and Tulane.

June Jones would never coach at a school like Rice because he couldn't get his kids just as he would never have taken the SMU job if the Model had not already been changed to accommodate the players he recruits. It also should be pointed out that Rice pretty recently actually won 10 games. Ken Hatfield had an 8-4 season. CUSA simply just ain't that tough a league. Tulsa has a bunch of teams that have had 11 win seasons, two 10 wins seasons, a 9 win season and more 8 win seasons. No reason SMU can't bump this up

I only have one Alma mater so I will always cheer for SMU, I don't care how bad we suck. What someone says on the message boards has no effect on me as far as that goes. June has no personality and no enthusiasm. Fans want their coach to at least look like he cares. If we end up with a losing record this year I will not have a problem if we get rid of June. But we have to let the season play out. And I will support the "Team" no matter what.

HB Pony Daughter almost chose attending RICE over SMU but didn't like the over abundance of RICE consumption at RICE; she decided SOUTHERN Methodists University was a better match for her personal "profile"!

I love playing in bowl games that air at lunch so I can maybe catch a glimpse of it on my lunch break on a Thursday... We should be EXTREMELY happy with mediocrity and never hope to play in BCS games because we've been in the cellar the past 25 years! I may not agree with firing Jones at this moment, but I do strongly feel that it's time to make the next step. Either June takes us to that next step or something changes. Coaches get fired all the time with better records than June. I get so tired of people being thrilled about 7-5, its time to step it up.

As for your little Rice rant and ditching the program, then go right on ahead! If that's what it takes to change your mind about a program then good riddance. You're calling people crappy fans for wanting the program to compete at the highest level but you're willing to ditch your fanhood. What does that say about you as a fan? Not everyone is gonna agree on the same solution for success.

If Jones leaves at the end of this season at least we won't have to worry about losing all our big time verbal commits.
