Serious question as I'm no DL guru. Sack wise, what can you reasonably expect from your DEs in a 3-4 scheme? Sure you want to pressure the QB if possible, but I thought the front three's primary job is to tie up the OL to allow the LBs to stop the run.

You are right and that will mitigate against Margus having eye popping stats.

Very valid point, but there are exceptions. Justin Smith on the 49ers, for example, manhandles O-linemen and gets a lot of sacks. With how strong Margus is, it would not surprise me if he developed into that kind of a powerhouse pass rusher.

Good call. Smith is actually a pretty apt comparison for what Margus can become. He doesn't have a really refined "punch," but his overall brute strength is off the charts. Let's hope that's what Margus becomes, anyway.

1 tackle is not showing up. I'm not sure if he even sniffed Florence. I know the idea of the 3-4 is for the D-Line to hold up the blockers, but you gotta make some plays. I know it's just one game, but it's a lot of hype with little production.

Dude, he hurt his back on the second play of the game, came out for a lot of the first series, and fought through pain in order to play in parts of the rest of the game. When a tall guy like that hurts his back, you can't get low and get any leverage. He spent the rest of the game pretty much occupying blockers to try and let others make plays.

All I saw on the tape was a redshirt Freshman putting him on his [deleted] or 8 yards off the line of scrimmage almost every play.

Hopefully he'll be more effective tomorrow......then again, that can be said about everybody on defense........

I hope he is Margus HURT on SFA this weekend.

Have you ever had a bad back? I have had a bad back and gone through the MRI's and taken the shots to try and get over it. Once it goes out, it never really is the same. (Ask former Cowboy Charles Haley about bad backs!) I personally am amazed that he kept on playing with it! I don't care how strong or athletic you are, just making it to the bathroom can be quite a feat if it is really bad. He probably should not have played for fear of making it even worse. Hope that it is not as bad as mine was and he gets over it soon.
