The offense

It's got to get better, doesn't it?
Gilbert rockets everything in, the receivers drop easy passes, we either overthrow or underthrow open deep receivers, and the O-Line struggled to run block against SFA.
On the bright side, we saw June call more running plays in short yardage situations (hallelujah!) and we experimented with a no-huddle late in the 3rd quarter.

Yeah and goal line sets of course I think our o-line typically dominated them so it makes sense. C. Preston looked good on the deep pass to I think dieter? Also who's the other RB ( not wimbley or ZL). It was someone they had registered as a WR yet he was carrying the ball a lot in the 4th he looked good. Im worried about GG, yesterday's win came from 3 defensive touchdowns and like 7 turnovers and some of them we went 3 and out.... Ugh oh well fun to watch from the pressbox

about 10 dropped passes? Yes, GG seems to only have one speed and that is a rocket, no touch at all. The offense looks awful. Please play more Dieter, that kid can play. Young receivers need to stop reaching and run through to catch it.

Right on, there were a couple of plays where wide receivers just gave up on the play or put their hands up way to early. I don't know what it is about our wide receivers but they rarely can cause the ball to be caught on long plays. Also, all those drops are inexcusable, catch the fing ball with your hands and not catch with your pads. I know Gilbert throws hard but he is trying to hit windows and thread the ball.

We may have had more ints than the offense had first downs at one point. Defense won the game but the offense lost to SFA. Very scary

Let's face it GG hasn't played well since high school. He is a huge concern and JJ has to make a call on that postion. Thank goodness we have Burcham in the wings but Preston should get a shot and soon if GG continues this way.

i don't see how we can be this bad on offense, the first three series were literally embarrassing. June has brought in a ton of Offensive Lineman and receivers the past 4 years, and this is where we are even with an all american running back and a QB who has played in a BCS champ game on the field?

Sadly, the QB was abandoned by his former team and I'm afraid we are finding out why. Argue w/me all you want but the responsibility of getting this team ready (and recruiting for the team) is on JJ's shoulders and I think we are seeing how important this job is to him. He checked out some time ago!
(used abandoned for lack of a better word)

I had to laugh at one of the long passes. Dieter let up, and i believe, also turned the wrong way. Jones jumped him on the sideline. I am sure Jones was explaining that the "lights were in my eyes" excuse does not work anymore.

Have to disagree I thought GG was great at Baylor (for a first start) and yes this game who should have lit up the field but I think the bullets hes throwing will calm after he does the same style plays over and over again he should of come here rather than UT he would of had a much better transition to start off with

Looks like all of our "diamond in the rough" players aren't really shining. Perhaps we see why so many were "under the radar" recruits?

Brand new OL, new receivers, new QB. Nobody in synch. Cole Beasley was an all-star in this offense and always found the open spots. Perhaps by mid-season things click or this could be a really long year. Not having DJ in there probably hurts a lot for GG too.

Th O has consistant inconsistency at all positions except RB. The O-line is terrible in run blocking, the receivers are dropping too many passes and the QB isn't in sync with the offense yet. And then we have a terrible punting game when bruising defenses like SFA stops us with a 3 and out. I love the win but is was a very unsatisfying win based on the lack of production from the O.

anybody remember how many drops Beasley had when he first got to SMU? These guys do improve with game time.

another long ball that should have been a home run was where Gilbert threw a pretty darn good ball but Jeremy Johnson ran backwards about 5 yards instead of turning to run under it
