GG or bust?

Is JJ going to play GG regardless of how bad he is playing and not give anyone else a shot at the expense of having a horrible season offensively? I know GG looks good in practice compared to the other qbs but you have to perform on the field first and foremost and he hasn't so far. Maybe just maybe Preston or Burcham might be better gameday performers.

I think he is going to keep playing him since he is the best QB on our squad. The issue is getting receivers who can catch. Stafford had this issue in Georgia and they fixed it - JJ needs to call those guys for some tips.

I hope he gives CP a real chance---he has looked good. I don't know why any player, who is untouchable in practice, wouldn't look good in PracTICE!!!

GG will get better. Right now if he isn't doing well in the game, but I think he has leash until we get into conference play.

CP might be able to do a little better right now, but that is about all he is going to do. If GG gets going, he is a 400+ yard per game passer. It is worth trying to get him started.

The throws are all there...75% of GGs incompletions seem to hit the receiver's hands...but there is some sort of disconnect

Very average receivers for the most part. It's what 2* players look like........

He throws the ball way too hard at all times. I'm very concerned about the QB situation.

He's a lot like Stafford was in his earlier yrs at Georgia. Threw it so hard receivers couldn't catch it

GG has been far from perfect, but he's also brand new to the offense and to his teammates. Plus, that offensive line in front of him is brand new. The OL has done a good job so far, but has a long way to go before GG will have the time to stand back there and pick apart defenses. To me, the receivers have been average at best in the first two games and need to play much better. Everyone can improve, including GG, but he's just scratching the surface of what he might be able to do in the offense. I would assume that barring injury, he's the starter all season.

Smart plays we haven't seen before from GG. HE throw several passes at receivers feet to avoided forcing a pass or avoiding a sack. Cool head under pressure. Has taken several hits. He has a strong arm and it is a matter of time. I don't think we have the total package of receivers just yet and that hurts. Plus GG might have looked a lot better if Darius was in there.

I agree that GG is overall making better decisions than previous QB's, but I am really worried about him getting the snot beat out of him next week by the Aggies. Baylor's d-line didn't really challenge too much, but SFA's got to him WAY too many times last night despite our o-line having a serious size advantage (that we won't have against aTm). Garrett last night didn't have a lot of time to make a ton of quality throws, and several of the ones he did make were dropped (note to wide receivers: catch the ball, THEN run).

The guy I want to see on the field a whole lot more is Dieter. Give Gilbert a big guy who knows how to use his body as a target and I think he can do some special things. Of course, if he is running for his life the whole damned game next week it may not matter much. The defense ain't gonna create 10 TO's next week, so the offense has to prove it can do something.

GG is going to be running for his life all game next week....he has the talent but we aren't even close to be ready for a TAMU or TCU...after 5 years of June at the helm...I would have expected much better at this point IMO.

For what its worth,
BU and SFA went after our corners. And both have had a fair amount of success. Look for A$M (and everyone else) to go after our corners. I expect next week our corners will be in a track meet before its over.

Oline is terrible in the run blocking scheme. Our big guys can't get on and hold a SFA size linebacker and it will be much worse next week. Blown assignments or just not athletic enough to get on to the D's backers is killing Line at the line.

Receivers are not the standard we have been accustom too the last 3 years. As a group there are too many drops.

Punting. We may mav the worse punting game in the last 3 decades right now. Averaging 29 yards a punt against a FCS team that isn't putting nay pressure on the punter isn't a good sign of things to come.

Too be fair to the team, the pass rush isn't consistently putting pressure on the opposing QB. But when they do, they have lowered the boom on opponents' QBs.

The offense was terrible against a team that was well coached but overmanned. We should have done more with the ball against SFA. The D bailed us out.

The team appeared to have more spirit and intensity and played controlled. Wimbley grabbed one of our players and manhandled him away from and SFA player after the first kickoff to avoid a PF penalty. We need more cool heads to take charge like that.

Glad for the win but it wasn't pretty or consistent or solid.

Agree it could be ugly next week.
