Kenneth Acker Named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week
CB scores twice in SMU rout of SFA

Sept. 10, 2012

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU junior defensive back Kenneth Acker has been named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced today.

Acker had two interceptions and scored two touchdowns - one on an interception return and one on a blocked field goal try - as SMU routed Stephen F. Austin, 52-0. His interception return was 77 yards and his blocked field goal return was 56 yards. Acker led an SMU defense that set a new C-USA single-game record with seven interceptions and forced 10 total turnovers in the game. The shutout was the first for SMU since a 42-0 win at Memphis last season and the first home shutout since 1983.

The Mustangs next host Texas A&M Saturday, Sept. 15 at Gerald J. Ford Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at smumustangs.com/tickets or by calling 214-SMU-GAME.

Congrats Ack, nice job. I don't care who you play against, a pick 6 and a block returned to the house is pretty spectacular. Now just do it this weekend and we'll carve a statue in your likeness. Promise.
