Cred to the Aggies

I am the first one to cringe at some of the Aggie traditions and personally think that they are a strange lot, but they have always been friendly fans when we visited College Station in the old days and unlike UT's home and away gig with Rice, the Aggies didn't require moving the game to Jerryworld or the Cotton Bowl as a condition of playing us at home. I have a feeling that we won't see them at Ford very often in the future, but my hat is off to them for agreeing to play in front of a smaller crowd at our house this year.

But they did require two home games at their place for one home game here. Just sayin'.

I was thinking the same thing when I heard they were going to Ruston to play LA Tech.Say what you will about Aggie but they show alot of class by coming to our place to play even if it was a 2 for 1.

Too true... but I wish it was the other way around, when we used to whip 'em. Hopefully someday very soon we will be in that position and do the same thing.

Of course you are right. I actually believe that there should be an NCAA rule requiring the big schools to play true home and home series with the little schools that they love to beat up at home in front of the crowds in their 100K seat stadia.

29-41-7 all time against the Aggies of which 9 of our losses were post DP. We're due to finally beat these guys............

seems reasonable when you consider we need 3 home games to generate the same attendance the Aggies do for every home game

There was a time, many many years ago, when sport was about competition and participation and not about generating the very last dollar. College football has strayed so far from that ideal that it barely resembles anything one could classify as a sport. Oddly, the NFL has conceived the best model. They are all about money, but everyone is on equal footing. And yet college football is my favorite spectator activity.

The great Blackie Sherrod used to preach the virtues of one platoon football: The top players would disperse to campuses of all stripes, perhaps even to schools with high academic standing, and the Trinitys and Austin Colleges and Sewanees of the world might be able to compete with the likes of the Big 12 and the SEC. That was the case in the early days of this crazy sport.
