LSU, TCU To Open 2013 At Cowboys Stadium, Per Report

By Jeremy Mauss - Contributor

LSU and TCU have reportedly agreed to open their 2013 season at Cowboys Stadium, scrapping a home-and-home they had previously scheduled.

Sep 14, 2012 - The TCU Horned Frogs and LSU Tigers are scrapping a home-and-home series they had set up for 2013 and 2014, and instead are choosing to open the 2013 season in the Cowboys Stadium Classic, according to the Fort Worth Star Telegram.

Moving the game to this a quasi-neutral site -- TCU is just 20 miles from Cowboys Stadium -- will give both teams a huge paycheck. Money had to be one of the main reasons why each team would give up a home game against a high-profile team that would sell out their home stadium.

This year, Alabama and Michigan reportedly split $9.4 million while playing at Cowboys Stadium. LSU earned $3.5 million when they played Oregon in 2011 and TCU netted $1 million when they played Oregon State in 2010.

This game will also likely be the premiere game to open the 2013 season and be in prime-time, as have most of the prior matchups that have been played at Cowboys Stadium.

This will be the third time that TCU has played in Cowboys Stadium - the other game was against BYU in 2011 - and the second time for LSU.

TCU played Grambling in their first game who is not as good as SFA in the FCS. Also, TCU was suppose to play LSU in 2013 and 2014 but was able to get the 2014 game with LSU wiped off the schedule by playing only the 2013 game at Texas Stadium.

Oh yeah, because TCU always schedules tough teams for every non-conference game they have. Puh-lease. To open their newly renovated stadium, they scheduled freakin' Grambling!?!

SMU is about the 10th toughest game on TCU schedule while TCU is the only team on SMU that is ranked-although I think A&M and Baylor will be better this year

I said I don't think TCU will do very well this year because of the loss of about 9 key players in off-season.

I realize the financial benefits of playing LSU at Jerry-world, but at some point next season TCU will need a win, and there is no reason to believe they will beat LSU. They need to continue momentum into the Big XII and this could hurt them, ESPECIALLY if they get upset by someone like us again.

it hurts to say...but TCU is light years ahead of us. Doesn't mean we can't upset them for a 2nd year in a row, though
