our recievers just don't get open

I don't understand. These guys just don't create any separation. I would hate to be gilbert back there holding on to the ball with nowhere good to go with the ball.

Best completions came on WR screens to dieter and that nice pattern they were running to holeman.

If Darius is the best June has coached clearly June hasn't been around any good WR's!

These receivers have been open several times today. GG keeps throwing it behind them or overthrowing them. This is BS.

You're right, the recievers did get open a few times and when they did the ball was late BUT they were not consistently open enough. The line played well and gave gilbert time but too often he didn't have anywhere to go with the ball.

I believe the problem is rooted in the fact that the WRs aren't very good, and the QB throwing to him isn't either.

The coach drawing up the plays isn't anything to get excited about, either.

That, and the WRs quit running their routes and the QB throws 95 mph fastballs behind and over the heads of guys non-stop.

Cover it?

Garrett Gilbert is the problem right now. He had plenty of open receivers, including a wide open Derrikk Thompson who, had GG seen him in the flat, would have tied the game 7-7 in the second quarter.

June's recruiting may be catching up to him. It may be better once they get to conference play but I doubt it will be much better. But that just my thoughts on the issue.

G2 seems hesitant to throw at times as well.

Guess we are seeing what recruiting "under the radar" and "diamond in the rough" players gets you...........

also noticed the first move on several receivers on sideline throws is to turn outside.....shouldn't the try a turn inside some time?

I think this is a major contributor to our lack of success on O.

Look at A&M for instance. Their plays break down and the QB found receivers who adjusted and got open. Our plays break down and our receivers don't break for open zones, so GG throws it away. Until we can connect on broken plays we will continue to struggle.

I agree...there was a play early on where gg scrambled to his right and had to motion for the receiver to come back to him....-he didn't.
