Why did the band play Varsity before the other band stopped?

Seriously? You couldn't wait two more minutes for the other band to stop playing before starting Varsity for the faithful SMU fans who waited around for the end of the ridiculous display today?
I'm sorry. There is no excuse not to wait until the visitor is done with their school song no matter how long it takes. I don't think I have ever been as disappointed as an SMU fan as I was after the game today.
Thanks for making a terrible day worse.

Am I really reading this title on an SMU PAGE?
YOU are a disgrace. The mustang band waits every single time and today, June Jones literally motioned to the band director to hurry up with it and start playing. Even then, the band waited longer and began playing just before june was about to take the team and say screw the alma mater.
You, sir, have absolutely no idea what you're talking about and to be frank, need to shut the **** up. Quit finding things to b**** about.

Thank you! We've got an absolute joke of a football team, still didn't sell out our stupid stadium, and this nutjob decided to complain about the one group of students who actually give a sh*t? Give me a freaking break.

Watch it. Give me a break. I served the Mustang Band for FIVE seasons, and I never remember depriving the faithful alumni who waited until the bitter end the opportunity to sing Varsity.
If June really said go ahead even though the other band was playing then I apologize for throwing the band under the bus and will turn my anger other places - but when only 2-3,000 SMU faithful remained until the end they should have at least had the opportunity to sing the Alma Mater.

Why should he give you a break? You opened your mouth and spouted off on them. I did my time in M-Band but I wasn't about to get on them for something that wasn't their fault. Do yourself a favor and direct your anger at Junesus. Remember, he's the one that doesn't give a rat's backside about tradition.

I changed the title, and I apologize if I offended anybody but I was so mad when I got home tonight...
The one thing that could have put a nice end to that horrible display of football by the team was the opportunity to sing Varsity with the few alumni who stuck it out to the bitter end and we didn't even get that.
Once again, sorry.

The original title was completely out of line...I don't care how angry you were. The mustang band is full of students who love the university just as much as you do and have the same respect for our alma mater as everyone else.
The a&m alma mater was extremely long and when the coaching staff was pressing for the alma mater to begin, it began. There was no intent to rush things along or to disrespect the other school/our own faithful.

I know. I apologized. SORRY!
I'm sure the team wanted to get back to the locker room ASAP - but it was still a shame for the SMU alumni who cared who remained. Overall - just a bad situation.
One last time, SORRY! - and GO PONIES!!!!!!!!

I LOVE the bands--student and alumni. I wanted to hire them --along with Peruna--for my daughter's wedding. Her husband-to-be (SMU'11) was going for it, but she (SMU'12) was not. SPOILSPORT!

Maybe you should suggest June Jones.

The real question is why one of these posters was in the Mustang Band for five years. It's rare for somebody to take the victory lap of the fifth year at SMU.
